Hi Guys,

I have some doubts here which i wish to clarify. I know some of you may ask me to refer back previous post/thread and yes I have gone thru all but there are still some things that I'm not clear.

When employer apply for the work pass for you, How long does the pass last? Do we have to renew every year? Izzit we can only apply for work pass under a company's name? Does that mean we are bonded to the company for that duration?

When we renew our pass again, do we need to inform them which company we are working with right now?

PR status is permanent or we have to renew from time to time?

When we work in SG under work permit, we don't have to contribute to CPF but PR needs to? How about tax?

Btw, I don't really know wat's the diff between S pass or E Pass Or WP etc. Haha.

Thanks for helping me out notworthy.gif

PR - PERMANENT Resident.

The residency is permanent. It's the Re-Entry Permit which needs to be renewed every 5 years. You need a REP to remain a PR while outside Singapore. So, as long as you don't leave Singapore, your PR is permanent even if you don't renew the REP.

PRs need to contribute CPF.

PRs also pay tax lah... aiyo... common sense lah. You think PRs don't need to pay tax meh? blink.gif

Crapp0,

Maybe the company taht he is working in has not submit on his behalf. Anyways, not to worry, the IRAS will surely track him down.

S, EP, WP holders have to pay tax if the requirements are met. >183 days, gross >$20k (I think).
*
ok. Clear bout the tax. So how bout the working pass? For those holding WP/EP/SP or watever, are we tied to the company that apply for us for the duration? Can we change job during the period? Can we apply the pass on our own?

No, you cant apply the pass on your own, the company has to do it for you. You can apply to other company provided that they are willing to apply for a working pass for you.
*
ok got it. Thanks Chess_gal. Means becoming a PR will be better if one plans to work there for a number of years.

Not recommended to find job in Singapore cause
1. Waste money (you cant just storm into any company hoping to be interviewed).
2. Waste time (you still need to wait after sending in your application)

Unless you have relatives here that you can bunk with for a couple of weeks and money to spare.

chess_gal,

i have also thought of this b4. How should we arrange for interview if companies in SG called us? Like my case, I'm still working in MY, let's say co A called this week and ask if i can come for interview within these 2-3 days, then after 2 weeks co. B called for interview again. how ar? Keep going there ar? expensive leh.

Anybody want to share how they go for interview ar?

Did you guys apply for as many job as possible while waiting for respond?
