This is a job related section. Your casual post should only restricted to kopitiam. Consider yourself warned.
*
Here can only discuss about work and job related things? How about other threads in this section? They also talk about other things like cost of living, entertainment, sports in a particular country.

AFAIK,

Big 4 - $2.2K to $2.5K (but very very heavy workload)
Med firms - $2.0K to $2.3K (medium workload)
Small firms - $1.7K to $2.2K (relax to less heavy workload)

It's all depends on your lifestyle and whether you can cope with your workload or not.

If you just want to earn fast money, why do you want to become a PR?
*
Bcos of of the following reasons:-

1) Job security
2) Maybe wanted to jump to other company after working in this company for 1.5 yrs.

Let's say the company gonna retrench u next Monday, u cant still apply for other jobs based on your PR status.

Secondly, it is much more easier to apply a job as a PR than u are on a EP or WP.

So, if I can apply for PR and at the same time does not need to contribute CPF, that would be great.

SGD4.5 consider high ? you must be kiddin

SGD4.5K consider very low. Average Singaporeans earns about 8K to 20K a mth.

In terms of percentage of millionaire in a country, Singapore ranks 2nd behind Hong Kong whereby 24% of the total population of Singapore are millionaire. HK is 26%.

Racial issues, political issues, crime problems, religion issues, rasuah, economic problems etc etc all screwed up... all not even on par with Singapore.

U tell me what have Malaysia achieved after 52 years??? Send a space tourist into the space?

In no uncertain terms, YES. I mean that the BN/UMNO govt is no good for Malaysia. In fact, it's pretty damn bad for us.

If you want to know how bad... read 3 things each day:

1. Utusan Malaysia (owned by UMNO),
2. New Straits Times (owned by UMNO), and
3. Malaysiatoday.net (owned by someone UMNO really hates).

The first 2 show you how the govt is trying to keep the Malays and non-Malays at each other throats. The 2 newspapers show clearly how the govt speaks with a forked tongue. One poison-laden tip for each community.

The 3rd shows you what's the real situation on the ground and what wind is whistling which tree branch.

If you can read that and still say the govt's doing a good job... all I can say is... if you're a non-Malay, go buy a new house and pay the bumi discount. If you're a Malay, go buy something from a Chinese small businessman. Either way, you'll get cheated because of your skin, thanks to our beloved govt.

QUOTE(giorgene)
It's all about the whole idea how to run the country..
Exactly!

So if I think BN/UMNO's idea of running the country is wrong... am I unpatriotic to criticise them? Am I unpatriotic if I vote to change the govt?
*
Seantang, I love your valid and strong points about Malaysia Gomen.

I just come across this article today:-

WHAT A DISGRACE ! Utusan Melayu castigated Singapore Lew Kuan Yew for "sowing poison" !!!

If u wanna work and earn 2.45 times ur current salary in Singapore, u have to take the pressure and prepare to work 10-12 hrs a day. No free lunch in this world.

If u wanna work and earn 6.00 times ur current salary, pls go to UK or other European countries whereby you only have to work from 10am to 4.30pm daily, 5 days week and still can take leave go for 2 mths vacation around the world.

No wonder Europeans can live longer than Asians.

Anyone here experienced returning to Msia after working in Singapore?

How do u feel after a sudden drop in ur salary value?

Usually how much can u expect for a salary after returning from Spore?
Let's say, now u are getting SGD3K which is equivalent to RM7K, can i expect at least RM6K when i back to Msia?

hi everyone,
i need your input here:

do u think of S$ 2000 too high or too low for IT fresh grads who hold 2nd upper class level ?
and what's the current range for such level ?
*
$2K is quite high since u r a Malaysian fresh grat, unless u r a Singaporean, then maybe they will pay u $2.5K to $2.7K

Hi all,
I am glad I could move to SG, if possible migrate to SG.  There are couple of reason which I would not want to repeat here as many of members already posted.  The main reason is the corruption in Malaysia that make me sad, and the Malay's attitude (if you read about the COW Head protest news).  I really feel hopeless as well as helpless living in Malaysia.  Medical care and education that are the worst in the world, I think.  If you have chance to visit to Govt. Hospital in Malaysia, the ICU even worst than any private clinic on the street.  For education, what is so proud that our Govt wish to strengthen Bahasa Melayu.  If you have chance to read the newspaper in Bahasa Melayu, you will notice in one sentence only 10% is purely from Bahasa Melayu, the other are copied from English.  For instance, "documentation -> documentasi", "infrastructure -> infrastrutor", and even "Chicken -> Chiken".  I think the ppl who educated with Bahasa Melayu, and who listen to what the Govt. said will believe English is copying Bahasa Melayu one day.

Walou, seems like more and more chinese or non-malays are frustrated with our gomen rite now.
A couple of days ago, my cousin went to the immigration department in KL to try to have her passport done and she arrived at 4pm. However, the officer told her "sudah mau tutup, datang lagi besok la"
Walan, this kind of lazy attitude, Malaysia how to improve?
and What our gomen is thinking of trying to switch back to Malay teaching for Maths and Science?
Slowly, Malaysia will become the 2nd Indonesia in years to come.

Does anyone have any info or leads on whether/how we can export a 10 year old Singaporean car (ie. COE expired, to be deregistered/scrapped) back to Malaysia? Particularly the taxation, customs procedures for the export, and then JPJ inspection and registration.

Thanks.

Have been keeping a lookout in  the banking industry for months now. Even internal transfers to Singapore branch opportunities are minimal. Its really a time where the best of the best would only be considered. Employers are more demanding now.

Why so many ppl loves to work in the banks nowadays? Mind to share?
