LG Full HD 42". Can't recall the exact model. Value for $$. Last time I checked, the price has dropped to ~3.5k. I've been using for 6 months. No problem whatsoever. Frequently connecting to my laptop thru HDMI cable to watch movie. As for Astro, I don't know if any brand will make the picture any better regardless of what the salesman/women told you

I am still undecided whether to get the panasonic Full HD or the Toshiba Full HD RV500E (the flimsy remote control is a no-no) (cause I don't like Plasma due to the reflections issue)....

I am still contemplating whether to get the Panasonic Full HD LCD...is the same price....but contract lower at 10000:1

that contrast is factory announced dynamic contrast, not NATIVE lcd panel contrast. For instance, LG said its model(xxx) is 50000:1, but 42LZ80 is 15000, so I do NOT believe at all LG one is >3x higher contrast, it is totally no such thing ! Always bring one DVD copy(clear or dvd9), then go and hop around to test it side by side from same player source. Then from there u will realise what u like.

I'm impressed with the black level. So far, I think the most value for money of LCD Full HD TV under 3K. Using a d Pana BD60 BluRay.... clear and nice even with DVD upscale. I think Pana do a good job in upscalling, my older Samsung DVD player dont do so much good in upscalling DVD. I only have PS2 with component in. So far so good. But again PS2 graphic can masuk museum lah. As for Astro, you go and get a new decoder that come with component output. That solve your problem with S-Video thingy.

Cheapest I've came by for 40B530 was RM2600. I wanted to purchase the unit but decided not to because the cosmetic finishing doesn't look very nice. Ended up buying a Bravia K40V550.

You dont have to use your credit card point but if you got point then more discount, for citibank card every 9000points =RM50.00, example the 530 set is 2649-50=2599, so the more point you got the more discount

aiya, i have Citibank, but onli use them for spare.. so no points. Which means no further discount for me lar...
