i've got my Samsung lcd yesterday, after i watch it, i realized that the color setting is not as well, is it any setting to set up my lcd tv, so i can see the picture more share/better? now im using composite cable(samsung la32b460 doesnt support s-video input), is it because of the cable, not my lcd setting? hope to get some setting information here, thanks.

Most probably it's your source or cable problem. Are you watching Astro with that?

If you are using Astro, then not much you can do since your TV don't have S-Video. S-Video will give a slight improvement. DVD player with HDMI plus upscaler will be more expensive than those without upscaler. Usually those with upscaler will be above RM300. Try to get those. Not sure about Samsung, but the more well known are Sony and Pioneer. I'm using Pioneer DV400 which already been replace by DV410.

The only advantage of buying the same brand as your LCD is you can use the same remote to control both the dvd player and lcd. Other thing should not differ much. Yes, you are right. Unless Astro run on HD broadcast, you will not get much from your LCD. Actually I found that watching Astro on plasma is much better as I just bought a Pana X10 Plasma.

finally i bought Sony brand HDMI DVD player, i can control my LCD through sony remote after doing some setting like volume and power on/off.
now im using composite cable to watch astro, the quality is really bad, and i went to my frend's house yesterday that connect by s-video, the quality is quite difference, we r using 32 inches lcd too, and i don think samsung's quality will have big difference with toshiba...

thinking that using s-video to component cable, don know quality will be better o not?

Astro is using 4-pin s-video if I'm not mistaken, but I can only find 7-pin s-video to component cable (as my computer vga card comes with this free s-video to component adapter). I've tried looking for the 4-pin adapter but to no success. Maybe I just dun look hard enough, or there is no such thing.

iirc, there's another option. Get a HDD/DVD Recorder that takes in RCA Composite/Svideo and output to HDMI. They usually have some internal upscaler to connect to ur HDTV using HDMI.

The cheapest philips DVDR only cost RM 699 iirc.

ya, astro is using 4-pin s-video(left and right 2 pins), i think we have another option, buy a hdmi converter cost RM250 or above? but i don think it's value to pay for it...

currently im using sharp dvd recorder, i think i should buy a component cable now, to get the better astro quality, i think it's better than i buy a hdmi converter.

i try to watch those dvd video(taiwanese drama) that convert from rmvb or any other computer video file format, it's better than astro, at least wont like astro, the human/skin looks very flat or not really clear/sharp, but the taiwanese drama human, i still can feel he/she is a human, haha..

ps: do u guys understand what's my meaning?
