Damn! The new alphas have TWO memory slots! That is so cool!!!! None of the other beginner DSLRs in the market from any other brand have this feature! And there is actually a hardware switch to change between the SD card & MS Pro card! Even the A700 & A900 do not have this hardware switch.... *green with envy*

Launching of Sony 50mm f/1.8 means Minolta 50mm f/1.7  losing its 2nd hand value  sweat.gif

Can't wait to get my hands on one of these.... this lens is supposed to come with the new SAM af motor. Would love to see just how good the new SAM is compared to the in body AF motor as well as the SSM / HSM motors. It is most likely going to be a micromotor (groan) but hopefully it is as smooth as Sony had advertised it. Just have to wait and see lah... with sales not expecting to start until middle of the year (soon).

Shootkk: Haiyah.... you are just being old-skool macho leh. laugh.gif

1 thing I did notice is the absence of a vertical grip for the new alphas..... oh boy.....

I do not understand the requirement to put a CPL filter in front of your lens unless you need the feature of the CPL, which is really to cut down on the reflections off shiny surfaces. That is the main purpose the CPL. If I was to have a CPL, I would probably keep it in my bag until I need it (like for instance when I want to remove that annoying reflections off the glass window). Do keep in mind that a CPL is never a "fast action" filter. You need to rotate the filter slowly to see the effects and get the exact effect you want.

You loose 1-1/2 stop of speed with the CPL attached to your lens, so why put it there unless you need it? I had seen people using CPL at night during an event... and the poor guy keeps complaining his flash batteries do not last long....

hmm... after a quick browse through google using keyword "ultra wide angle", a website pop a thinking that made be re-think should I get an UWA. This is because the reason for me to get UWA is to "getting it all in". Getting an UWA should not be in this case

Oh yeah... what Ken Rockwell said about ultra wides is only maybe about 50% of what ultra wides are capable of. Getting you smack right in the middle of things is only ONE of the MANY things an ultra wide can do. wink.gif Buy one, and you will realize what I'm talking about. brows.gif

Ultra wide for portraits is crazy...! For this shot, I was practically almost touching the model's arm. ;P

MoO... I CAN see your apple perfectly... wink.gif

Nice try, but would prefer it to be slightly brighter to give a sense of freshness to the apple. Sprinkling water on the apple is a very good approach to adding a freshness zest to the shot. Keep it up. Good work. Rival Achew! Don't let him runaway with all the accolades! wink.gif

Sony A500 & A550 rumours are heating up! I think these models will be ones that the A200/300/350 users should be looking at for a body upgrade to the next level! rclxms.gif

link: http://www.dyxum.com/dforum/a500-a550_topic47003.html

p/s: no photos in the link. just a mention of Sony Canada's website that had leaked out the model name A500 & A550 in their camera models drop down menu. (ops....)

the dragonfly might flying back to same position later... biggrin.gif

No lah. After kena flashed, the dragonfly temporarily lose vision (due to the flash too strong). It will stay in that position for a while until it recovers its eyesight before flying off. Remember insects do not have eyelids to close the eyes if kena flashed.

........................... tongue.gif KIDDING lah!!!!! I got no idea actually, since I'm not a macro photographer. *hehehe*

Bro, 3 studio lights. 1 at each side of the model and 1 at the front. The lights looks heavily diffused.
