dats how u read the marking on the lens...

if it say f4... meaning... all the way of the zoom from start to end 70-210... the widest it can open is at f4..

but with f3.5-4.5... mean... at 70mm... the brightest is f3.5.... and at the end 210mm is f4.5

it wont say the smallest opening... but i guess it is really small around f30++ maybe..

thx~~, i'm not so familiar with the lens history, as i know its an old minolta mc/md mount lens. u can try to get from ebay, but it might cost u rm800++..

ha, btw, 58mm f1.2 is hard to use in indoor shooting,especially in small room t-t

if you are into birding, 500mm f/8 is the lens to go.. it's a mirror reflex lens tho, so it's light and the size is not too big.. but it'll produce a donut-shaped bokeh la

Wanna buy my 1st lens,but cant afford to buy new lens so will get 2nd hand, need some advise from u guys. Please help me choose 1

1. SIGMA AF 70-210mm 1:4-5.6 MC Macro Lens (around RM380)
2. Minolta 70-210mm f/4 AF Lens Beercan (around RM900)

I believe beercan will be better but den might be off my budget. Is the Sigma AF 70-210mm can mount in A300? Any1 heard any issue about that lens? Try to google but cant find any review.

Aiyaaa the Sigma 30mm F1.4 is not meant to be specifically a portrait lens.

It is a normal lens which gives you a angle that can be used for wide (if you turn to landscape orientation) or tele (if you turn to portrait orientation).

It is a bonus that the Sigma also lets you use F1.4 for low light. The shallow depth of field can also be used for portraits.

As for big-head portraits, do you mean close and wide, or far and cropped in? The latter is called a headshot.



50mm F1.4 on A900 (same angle as the 30mm F1.4 on APS-C.)

I am sitting opposite her at a small table. The angle is very comfortable to use when sitting down... normal typical portrait lenses like the 85mm-135mm range, require you to get up from your seat and stand further behind. The wall was right behind me!

I don't like the feeling of Canon battery grips, it's a brick with a screw on it only, doesn't feel anything like the camera grip.

soulfly, the exciting portrait lens that should be blistering wide open would be the Tamron 60mm F2.0 DiII Macro for APS-C cameras.

braindead_fr3ak, most people will upgrade from third-party flashes; the F42 can be triggered off camera (the pop-up flash must be raised to send the signal) for creative lighting effect.
