QUOTE(solstice818 @ Jun 16 2009, 09:30 PM)
Benitez prepared to back Rovers

Rafael Benitez has offered his support to new Tranmere Rovers boss and former Liverpool legend John Barnes.

Barnes has already moved quickly to appoint another former Red, Jason McAteer to his management team, but realises he needs to call on a few favours if the club are to be able to compete in League One with struggling finances.

"We've got two of the biggest clubs in the world on our doorstep in Liverpool and Manchester United," said McAteer. "Not to use them and the help they could give us would be daft.

"We're under no illusions - budgets are tight, there's no money here and we want to bring in some loan players, but we don't just want to bring in any loan player, we want to bring in good quality young loan players who are going to make the team better.

"Rafa Benitez has already said he would love to help us out. My agent has spoken to him at length about things as Liverpool wanted to know what was going on.

"Rafa was really complimentary and when you've got that kind of support you've got a chance."

maybe after seeing Ramos mistakes that cost Spain's semifinal match, it could help Arbeloa to be in pole position at right back for RM. i just wonder how on earth he couldn't see Dempsey was nearby...!!!

anything goes, Arby. anything...

He seems to just want to sit on the fence and wait to see whether the 2 clubs can agree on something or not. hmm.gif

QUOTE(solstice818 @ Jul 1 2009, 12:26 AM)
Liverpool winger Paul Anderson today completed a transfer to Nottingham Forest.

The deal follows a season-long loan at the City Ground where he scored twice in 26 outings.

Rafa Benitez signed the 20-year-old from Hull in January 2006 and he was part of our Youth Cup winning side of that year.

Anderson has represented England U19s but leaves Liverpool without a senior appearance to his name.

However, despite moving to the Championship, the youngster has not given up on his Premier League dream.

He said: "Everyone's ambition is to play in the Premier League and play at the highest level possible but I think we're going to do that at this club.

"The ambition I've seen and the players I've seen at the club, there's no reason why in the next couple of years we can't be up in the Premiership."
