Hi!

I was wondering, do all HDMI DVD players provide upscaling?
even the non-branded/no-name ones?

I came across a Cornell brand HDMI DVD player selling for RM160.
it didnt say anywhere on the box that it had the upscaling function.
Is the upscaling DVD feature synonymous with HDMI?

If it is, then RM160 would be a pretty good investment to be able to watch all dvds in 'hi-def'

Nono,I guess u take it wrongly. The player supports HDMI does not means that your videos is hi def staticly,it depends on the video source also.

oh, okie
Thanks for the info.
Ive been reading alot about those HDMI dvd players and their ability to upscale the regular dvds at 480p to 720p.
So, your saying not all HDMI can do this? only those who specify the 'upscaling feature'?

yes it does upscale it to 1080p but pics is only so so but given the price its a good buy if yoy are not willing to strecth a bit more for other brands, watch all dvds in hi-def??i'm areaid not,its very much depends on your dvds,if the dvd is not so clear the player will make it worse by showing you all the flaws, and every hdmi player do have upscalling its just whether up to hd ready(1080i) or full hd(1080p)
