its good for basic upscaling of dvd and avi files. i would say its very good up to 720p. unfortunately its not compatible with my lg lcdtv though at 1080p
You got the wrong cable. You need HDMI 1.3 in order to get 1080p.
Probably the HDMI cable that comes with the cornell is of the older version.
I had this problem with my PS3. Initially it can only work at 1080i with my XD TV, the one on offer by MBF Credit Card. Using a RM65 thick HDMI cable with double noise suppressors.
Old HDMI prior to 1.3 version can only work at 1080i because of the lack of bandwidth. Noise suppressors cleans up the signals in order to reduce the chance of errors by filtering high frequencies. Unfortunately this reduces bandwidth.
Once I got my RM15 HDMI 1.3 from china, it proved to be perfect. My PS3 can work at 1080p now. PQ is slightly better compared to 1080i.

yes. returned to c4. luckily got 8 day to return it.
So you got yours at Carre 4. I saw one at City Parade, Centre Point KK selling for RM220 at its lowest price.
I can't get it from any of the Giant stores.
This cornell model, includes a coaxial digital output in addition to it optical output.
This is important for me because my Denon Amplifier comes with only one optical but also has a coaxial input.
PQ of any DVD player should be equivalent. I compared them with my old Panasonic DVD player with the cheaper Khind, Akira DVD players.
My current cornell CAV-DV103Kc that I bought for MR135 JUNE 2008 only has 1080i output. If you set it at 1080i, PQ appears better even for VCD but my wife disagrees.
When I switched off its power, sometimes it loses its configurations.
Since I notice that even at 1080i on my Full HD TV, its quality is almost as good, I prefer to buy the cheaper CAV-DV103kC but it is no longer available at KK. I find that RM220 is still a bit too high as a backujp DVD player but I may not have any choice.
For more RM299 you can get Sony or Phillips with DivX ultra but based on my research DivX ultra only has menu functions. Not sure if it can support DivX 6 or above. Cornell only supports DivX 5 and below.
For Karaoke and USB functions it will set you more than RM400 but for the Sony and Phillips, but with DivX ultra. However they are Region locked unlike Cornell, at least my old Cornell.
