he did not mean the semi-bricked Wii does not have Setting button. u just cannot ACCESS the settings itself once semi-bricked.

as for the pointer accuracy, you mention u positioned the sensor bar above TV. did u set the option to "Above TV" in the Wii Setting options too ? how far are u from the TV/sensor when playing ?

QUOTE(gogo2 @ Jan 20 2010, 04:55 PM)
But the Wii is still playable. The setting button still there. So I dun think they will fix it.

By the way, when i point the wii mote to the screen, do I expect it to direct pointing? I set it above TV for the motion bar.
But I feel the pointer is not point very direct to the screen. Is it because my position?

Added on January 20, 2010, 5:02 pmCan i calibrate the Wii Mote?

is the sensor bar at the center of the TV and are u facing the sensor bar directly (straightline) when pointing ?

QUOTE(gogo2 @ Jan 20 2010, 05:21 PM)
I set it to Above TV. How far? I think 1.5m or 2m.

just to add on to what ramz mentioned, the wii sports that originally came with machine as claimed could be non-original game as well.

besides, sometimes ppl who bought the machine don't even know what is pure original set vs modded set (soft, hard, hybrid, system menu version change, etc). all they know is ... can play Wii games (most of the time at least if not self maintained)

QUOTE(JimBeam101 @ Jan 24 2010, 10:49 PM)
Guys, An original USED full set with 16 games at RM600 is a fair price rite?

He says the set originally comes with the wii sport game. So i presume it is an ori US set. rite? from which i get the info from one of the threads.

based on my observations, there are 2 reasons why it may seem pirated wii games is not as popular as other counterparts :-

1. just take a look a what type of games you find when browsing through those folders. even the pirates dunno what really to pirate or perhaps the seller/producer of the disc just know a lot of latest games "cannot play" ... so avoid selling

2. for those ppl in the know it's even worse mentality, easy to look for game downloads upon release together with "fixes" to make sure it can run ... no need to "buy" from shop la as they say ! just download and run from external HDD

damn, sad but true cases ... and actually we are not even talking about the right thing ... everyone should just be paying and playing originals. pure and simple.

QUOTE(PhoenixByte @ Mar 10 2010, 10:01 AM)
i dun say they don't hv wii pirated games selling...what i meant was...even the pirated wii games is not as popular as it other pirated counterpart..not many ppl bothered with pirated wii games as in comparison with the pirated PS2 n 360 games.

that is what i was trying to say. smile.gif

U can see for urself n u can also ask if the pirate sellers even bothered to reprint their pirated wii stocks smile.gif

if you really want to save a bit of money or can't find well priced original cable then the 3rd party Wii Component cable sold at play-asia.com is a good alternative.

i have tested it before ... NO visible ghosting during heavy motion, blurring, colour bleeding, etc

for USD9.99 ... it's a good buy !

problem with some (may be majority) people is that they don't really regard Wii as a "proper"/"hardcore" console ... for all they know it's like buying a kitchen appliance.

buy it to cook something for a specific party/event ... then leave it in cupboard. so i suppose that's why some don't really see the "after 12 months support", "certain game cannot play" as a major decision issue ...

*sigh*

*runs back to play Monster Hunter tri. hehe*

QUOTE(ramz @ May 7 2010, 06:19 AM)
u paying about 60rm less then an original wii. 60rm less includes the trips u take when "u can't get a game to play", no warranty on hardware defects (some do give 3 months personal warranty though, please confirm), and the "u are on your own on system updates after 12 months".

not sure or want to deliberate on why "wii games cannot be traded like praystation3 titles" but perhaps the ppl who buy original wii games are different ?

i can only speak for myself and i rarely if ever sell my wii games. the 1 or 2 i sold off probably meant i really made a big mistake of buying something i don't like AT ALL or it was very bad game for me ...

am afraid based on current situation ... the MH3 + CCPro bundle seem to be soldout or harder to find.

as for the new US Wii bundled with 2 WiiSports and motion plus ... i think you'd have to expect some higher markups from local importers

if you can wait long enough ... i'm quite sure they will ultimately have a US Wii with MH3 bundle for the holiday season possibly!

QUOTE(shafawi @ May 7 2010, 10:35 AM)

oh yes, i agree on the games not being available on time. Even worse, some games which are not heavily advertised, hyped or not "hardcore" enough isn't even sold or brought in !

games in the latter category would be like de Blob, Sky Crawlers, Sakura Wars, etc, etc.

glad to say that this has changed with the emergence of seller like stevechan360 thumbup.gif once in a while if the rates isn't to big a difference, i'll get from play-asia as well.

i have owned the US Wii since it's launch ...and i can tell u the situation was not like this before the jack sparrows flourished.
i easily traded/sold about 2 games among the 5 that i owned initially. trading was done just like the ps3 titles in LYN. local game shops i went ... had most of the current titles (there were no jack sparrows remember?).

as a owner of ps2 from launch ... i can also confirm this is history repeating itself ...

i'm tired of talking abt jack-sparrow and whether it's right or wrong. all i know is i support Nintendo and i'll find my way to get what i want to buy. most importantly, i ENJOY the games i PLAY.

Hunting season is here ! so when u want to join us on MH Tri ? brows.gif

QUOTE(ramz @ May 7 2010, 10:49 AM)
games r simply not available on time. i give u personal experience.

before i had my ps3, i only have wii. there was 2 games i wanted to get so badly. i place a WTB in lyn, and 2 of the sellers threads. after 2 months, nothing. i see it in PA, but i always hesitate with PA, coz its more expensive and it take 2 weeks for it to arrive. so happen that game is also on ps3. so i got fedup i bought the ps3 and the game.

after i got my ps3, i don't really buy new wii games unless they r exclusives. one game i wanted to buy is NSMB, again, i walk into retail shops they don't sell. i do see it selling on lyn sometimes but i am always too late. so i end up buying overseas, which is actually more expensive, but available.

trading 2nd hand also is a problem. wii games i put on lyn only get replied 1 month later (dead space extraction - is popular right?). whereas i see ps3 games taken up d day after thread is put up.

which country did you set in the Wii settings ? if you set it to countries of Americas (North or South) shouldn't have this issue.

Added on December 11, 2010, 12:50 amAnyone knows why I cannot connect to Wii connect24 and the Internet channel etc...

I can connect to the Internet using the Wii console successfully via wi-fi. And I updated the console straight after I connected it to the internet. But when I try to open the applications that need web access, the console tells me I am not connected to connect24.  shocking.gif

When I tried to activate connect24, there is a message saying that Wii connect24 and shopping channel is not being offered anymore??  icon_question.gif

it's free and i'm quite sure you'll figure out how to use it in no time !

i don't think the version of Victorious Boxers on Wii alone will justify the purchase of a Wii if you are looking at good implementation of motion control gaming.

if you dun mind a more arcade type of boxing gameplay, Punch-Out for Wii is a better choice. but take note there is no motion controls or a build your boxer career like VBoxers. just Wii remote NES-style and dodge/punch/super-punch with many zany opponents smile.gif

there are loads of other good games employing motion controls on Wii.

as for RPG ... if you have a Wii that can play JPN wii titles ... then there's a good selection eg. Tales of Symphonia 2, Tales of Graces, Xenoblade, The Last Story ! (nxt week)

RPG for US ... i think best choice is Tales of Symphonia 2.

Wii console is region locked. so just take note if you get a JPN machine ... u can only boot and play JPN region games. (you should read the Wii FAQ on this site to familiarize yourself with Wii if you are really interested)

when u mentioned RPGs i made assumption that you were referring to those which are JRPG themed so yea, you can say that JP region got more of those which are good games.

US RPG-esque games (both JRPG-like and otherwise) ... i can only think of Tales of Symphonia 2, Tales of Symphonia (which is a Gamecube game but u can play it on Wii) and Super Paper Mario Wii ? if we count Monster Hunter Tri as RPG-esque (remotely) .. then that's a good choice too especially when u join the online gang here (say hello to Paw Paw, Nyx Nyx, Kiu Kiu, G, etc)

Sports games i recommend Grand Slam Tennis (make sure u have Motion Plus), PES 2009 or 2010, Mario Strikers Charged (great arcade Nintendo style brutal and fun soccer gameplay)

if u get the US machine it comes with Wii Sports and perhaps Wii Sports Resort too (depending on bundle)

QUOTE(juudai1990 @ Jan 25 2011, 09:02 PM)
thanks yangkuo...

so basically if i wanted to play RPG games then i should go for JAP version??

then how about sports game??

is US version have limited and nice RPG games compared to JAP??

just curious, would it be Wii Motion Plus or the Wii Remote Plus being bundled with the official Wii at official price ?

QUOTE(Kyoyagami @ Jan 25 2011, 09:41 PM)
I'd like to make note that if someone is selling an official Wii that does not give Wii Sports Resort and Motion PLus at official price, you're getting conned.

get US version still got a few RPGs to play and who knows by year end 2011 they release Xenoblade and Last Story for US !

if u get the official Wii for distribution in Malaysia/Singapore it should come with a 220v original adapter. the machine itself is US region but for sale and distribution within this region. otherwise, just get a power stepdown adapter ... shld be abt RM60 for a good quality stepdown.

as long as it's original VBoxers for Wii (US version) of course it will run on a working US region Wii.

QUOTE(juudai1990 @ Jan 25 2011, 09:43 PM)
ya i read bout the region locked...

juz not familiar with those RPG game that well...

had not been playing console for than 8 years...>___<

well i tink i will opt for US version since i dun hav that much time to play RPG..~~

last question...can i play the Vboxers using US version and the only problem to solve for US version is to get an adapter rite??

by partner do you mean Wii Motion Plus accessory ?

if yes, then there is no need for it as your Red Wii bundle would have come with a Wii Remote PLUS (wii remote with motion plus built-in) !

Wii Remote Plus Control (Red) is also available for sale if that's what you are looking for ...

i've not seen a Red Nunchuk for sale individually though.

QUOTE(daniel arby @ Jan 26 2011, 10:41 AM)
~sigh~
i bought wii 25th Mario edition. It mean red wii remote will be no same color partner? Sadly, newday wii controller wid motion+ has different color with their jacket. Abit dissapointed there.

any error messages displayed when you attempting to launch wii shop channel ?

common issue usually is never accepted user agreement and/or WiiConnect24 not enabled (does not need standby).

can also be your Country has been set to one which does not have Wii Shop eg. Singapore.

another possibility is your firmware version not latest. ( official firmware at least )

Note: i am assuming you have unmodded Wii
