i don't associate games  i like with hardcore or casual...it's just that there's not much wii games to my liking. That's all. For me 'hardcore' or 'casual' are just labels

Region locks, well the issue was due to legal reasons. Because in US, some games are differently titled, and some items may not be so legit.

You have the need for parental controls and all, so it makes things complicated.

Put it this way, if you're a japanese or Korean, you would want certain things to look in a certain way that adapts to your culture (language and content wise). So, region locks was implemented.

I for one wouldn't want region locks. But have to bear with it.

if ps3 can do it. there is no excuse for wii
