Iphone 3G plastic cracking, Have anyone heard of this?

There are numerous articles about this problem when I googled it. Can anyone point this out and clear my confusion?
I intend to buy an Iphone 3G white 16GB this friday/next monday with Maxis ivalue plan, after hearing the plastic cracks often occurs on WHITE iphone is truly discouraging. Any answer from Iphone 3G users in Malaysia? |

THe plastic back cover of the IP 3G got some cracks on headset slot over time, no matter how careful you took care. Hopefully got someone knowledgable can clear my confusion.
