But apart from knowing it is being worked on. Nothing else is known. Hopefully we get some info during E3.

Eidos finally pulled the curtain and revealed that Thief 4 is indeed in the works. No real game details were divulged by the announcement other than that. According to shacknews, Eidos Montreal General Manager, Stephane D’Astous was quoted saying:

QUOTE
no word on specific platforms or a release estimate--with Eidos Montreal general manager Stephane D'Astous stating that it is "in the early development stages."

While today's announcement referred to the title as "Thief 4," the game's official website uses the "THI4F" graphic displayed above.

"It's too early for us to offer any specific game details, right now we are focused on recruiting the very best talent to join the core team at the studio and help us make what we believe will be one of the most exciting games on the market," D'Astous continued.

I loved the Thief series and hope 3 goes back to its roots and be more like the first game. I can live without a third person view.

Thief was one of my favourite games ever! Please no consolification tongue.gif 3 was subpar

Official site. Nothing here really except the community forum

agreed. been a fan since t2. but deadly shadows was the winner. the cradle got me so freaked that i had to take a break for a few weeks before continuing. laugh.gif

i like the 3rd person view and prefer it to be there. the main reason i don't really like t2 was because of the 1st person perspective(i'm no fps fan).

yah. i kinda like the 3rd person too. me is more like shifting between the 2 modes.

first person and 3rd person.

what i really love is the feel of immersion it sort of accomplished.

when i look down, i see my feet, i crouch, squat down, then look down, i see my legs, squat down also, just like in real life.

where as in those "standard" fps like doom 3, half life, etc.

you only see a weapon + hands.

when you look down, no legs, no waist, etc. doh.gif:

I hope they make the AI more believable. In the past games, the AI is so blind that you can stand right in front of them and they still can't see you.

Anyway, this is the chance for DotArds to redeem themselves and checkout this game.

So we wont be hearing about it anytime soon. sad.gif

QUOTE
"As for platforms and consoles, things are moving so fast. There's some contradictory noise on when there's going to be the next generation, so we're going to be prudent on that one," said D'Astous. "So we're going to wait a couple of months to announce more about that. It's going to be cutting edge technology, that's for sure. It would be imprudent for us to say which console because, first of all, we don't know exactly the window of release and we don't know the first-party strategy.

Does that mean Microsoft, Nintendo or Sony is planning to introduce a new console sooner rather than later? D'Astous wouldn't say anything further on the topic. But he did confirm that neither Thief 4 nor Deus Ex 3 would be on display at this year's E3 convention in Los Angeles.

WTH...
QUOTE
"We want to bring something new to the table, because these games sold respectably [in the past], but we want to bring it to another level. We want to have a larger audience without diluting the content," said D'Astous. "That is the real challenge, to bring it to a larger audience but without making it too easy or too thin on content. We're going to bring certainly a lot of innovation to both [Thief 4 and Deus Ex 3]."

Exactly what that means is open to interpretation at this stage, although D'Astous hinted that story, choice and RPG elements will play a large role in Thief 4, rather than the instant gratification that comes with twitch combat.

"I think shooters are fine – it's an adrenaline rush. But I think the RPGs in recent years are really gaining a lot of momentum," said D'Astous. "People want to have a richer experience. They want to have choices in their gameplay and I think games are getting more and more sophisticated with storytelling, and I think we can certainly do something with that with Thief."

Leaked video looks a lot like Thief 4

QUOTE
This video, spotted by Beefjack, seems to show footage from a Thief 4 CGI demo reel. The demo was uploaded to YouTube by “garrettisback” and the video tagged “thief4demoreel.” Eric Wong is mentioned at the start of the video, which seems to be this chap. His experience list mentions a stint as a lighting artist with Eidos Montreal working on Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Thief 4 back in 2010/2011. Some leaked storyboard images tagged 2010 showed a few scenes similar to those in the video above. They’re embedded below.

So, all in all, it looks like this is Thief 4. Or an elaborate hoax. Either way, it seems to capture the Thief vibe quite nicely, with a few extra flourishes, like the unfolding/folding Hawkeye bow, and Garret’s new “look I have a lockpick!” pose.

I have never play any Splinter Cell game yet but in Thief, your primary weapons consist of shooting arrow in an arc flight path with your bow (in which you have various types from rope arrow for climbing, moss arrow for quiet sneaking, water arrow for douching torches, noisemaker arrow for distracting, explosive arrow, etc), rendering your unalerted enemy unconscious with the blackjack club, backstabbing with the dagger and sword fight when cornered. Mission can range from pickpocketing, assassination, treasure hunt, getaway, infiltration, etc. You will play by stealth by sticking to the shadows, avoid making too much sounds, hiding bodies, darkening areas, creating distractions, hearing footsteps, eavedropping, spying, sneaking, etc. You do all this because you're incredibly weak so any confrontations is best avoided. It's just you, your wits and your tools at your disposal biggrin.gif

I really hope that the developer will bring Mr. Stephen Russell to voice for Garrett again. His voice is what makes Garrett so mysterious and yet so cool at the same time tongue.gif

Thief 4: 31 New Details Revealed

user posted image

QUOTE
As we have reported earlier, Thief will have a reboot titled “Thief 4.” Game Informer will have details of the new Thief game revealed in their next issue. This is what the reveal will feature. Our readers get to read it first...

  1. Garret has been away from his hometown for a long time and when he returns to the city, the gap between the rich and the poor is disproportionate.
  2. The city is ruled with an iron fist by a man named Baron, who has an army at his disposal.
  3. The rich are called “privileged” in the city. Garret sees this as an ideal opportunity to get rich and has no objective of becoming a hero or anything like that.
  4. The first scene starts with Garret in the district called Stone Market, our hero is in the back of a covered wagon.
  5. Garret is seen stacking dead bodies who have been killed by a plague raging through the city.
  6. Two wealthy men are seen walking down the street with guards.  Suddenly Garret overhears the two guards talking about a rich man. They are talking of a renowned architect named Theodore Eastwick. This is one of the richest men in the city. Baron personally instructed him to build many of the Gothic buildings of the city.
  7. The guards say the architect goes to a brothel called the House of Flowers. It is a clandestine brothel that is only open to the elite of the city.
  8. Garret goes there. He is hidden behind crates when he see guards. The screen is covered in those dark moments of a filter that indicates it is well hidden and nobody sees him.
  9. You can throw objects like bottles to distract several guards. You can also climb the pipes that run up the side of some buildings.
  10. Garret comes through the window and runs through several rooms.
  11. Garrett arrives at the brothel and sees Theodore Eastwick entering it. Garret follows.
  12. Everything so far was narrated in game.
  13. The brothel is full of scantily clad women who entertain their clients. Nearby there is a transvestite named Xiao, who greets all the guests.
  14. Garret sees Eastwick go to a room with Xiao. Once it is safe, he goes there and at this time you start a sort of minigame to open a box.
  15. Before he can complete it, Xiao enters the room. Garrett hides quickly into a corner and is there undetected.
  16. Xiao goes in and out almost immediately to resolve a conflict between two girls.
  17. Our character will open the box and take a relic inside that consists of many jewels. He cannot escape; Xiao is on the other side of the door talking to one of his girls.
  18. Eventually Garret finds a hidden button that makes the wall show a secret path. Garrett goes through the secret path and through the back doors to the place where Eastwick is.
  19. There Garrett steals a medallion that was in his possession and discovered that it is something special. A puzzle then starts in which parts of the medallion are rotated to align with a rune painted on the room's architect. Eastwick is aware of the theft, tells Xiao, who calls the guards.
  20. Garrett begins his flight. There are plenty of guards on the premises. While escaping he accidentally hears two girls talking about a problem with the ventilation system, which has been filled with opium accidentally. Garret opens the ventilation system and makes everyone fall asleep. He covers his mouth and nose and continues his escape.
  21. Two guards enter through a door at which he shoots an arrow at the statue that’s hanging on a door frame and lets it crush the guards. Garrett steals the guards weapons and fights his way out through the sewers.
  22. The artificial intelligence makes it clear that Garrett is not a fighter and that the game is not an action genre.
  23. Combating four or more guards is equivalent to suicide. The guards are aware of where they are and the places where thieves can hide. They look in many and varied ways.
  24. There will be a compass that tells you where to go.
  25. You will be able to explore the city at your leisure.
  26. There will always be multiple entrances to all rooms and locations.
  27. You can turn off the lights and candles to darken the rooms
  28. There will be set of footprints that will give you clues which drawer is a better loot. We can also pickpocket people in the streets.
  29. You can improve your skills. At the end of the levels you are allowed to spend money on improving your skills and get supplies.
  30. The developers are seeking to make a combat system for those who want to fight from time to time.
  31. You can knock out the guards with a blow if you catch them from behind.
  32. You may use tools in the room to defend yourself (bottles, switches ...).
  33. You will have a bow with all kinds of arrows, arrows to put out candles and candlesticks, smoke arrows to distract leaving a trail behind.
  34. Eidos wants to be faithful to the style of Thief and has lowered the magical tone of the series.

oh.... at first glance I thought it was mixture between medival europe and nazi... rclxub.gif btw good to have Garret back, previously all kind of rumour said will get new female thief.

Btw, can't help but noticed, and 'feel' lots of reboot for several major series recently.

Oh ya one more thing, let's do the semi-animated comic-style cinematic again! it was ultra cool on Thief series! (But I dislike how rockstar do it)

CG trailer.. need gameplay. Stealth game if not implemented properly imposed 'annoyance' rather than fun.

Batman Arkham City stealth = WIN
Hitman Absolution = Failed

My personal opinion above.

Anyway i have no idea. If they make FFXIII for PC i probably buy it instead of this though tongue.gif

Still have doubts about this game.
They haven't shown us any gameplay yet right?
Graphics without a doubt is amazing, but gameplay is my biggest concern.

Normally those are false promises to assure fans and to cut losses in sales. I hope it'll be good. Biggest gripe in this kind of game AI must be good.

Me too! The only thing that's keeping me from that "Pre-purchase" button in GMG is that I haven't really played the prequels. I guess I'll wait until next month for other previews and/or discount coupons. nod.gif

Move over Assassin's Creed, Master Thief Garrett is back!!! laugh.gif

My only regret from the trailer is that they added auto-takedown mode with a button press which is lame. In the prequels, my playing style is sticking to the no kill rule because I find that harder and more satisfying than just pulling up an arrow and killing them from a safe distance. Therefore, I had to manually blackjack them moving guards and is harder because I can miss if I didn't get close enough since they're walking fast in front of me while I sneak slowly behind him or I overstep from the carpet/moss area into the solid concrete floor creating noise or too slow to wallop all of them patrolling guards in time or they noticed the body I was trying to hide.

All which then lead to I deciding quickly whether to cross sword with the guard and try to deflect as many strikes to survive and hurting him just enough without killing him so that he run away or leg it and run like hell to escape him all the while praying the other guards won't hear him calling for help. (Hence I take my time to blackjack all of them to make an area safe for escaping later, lol). That added to the tension because swordplay with multiple guards is likely to get you killed faster. When you're surrounded, you cannot dodge as easily as there's little space, and you have to play defensively to deflect their strikes and wait for your chances to manually attack after all you're a thief, not a super assassin who can counter and instant kill in a fight (I'm looking at you AC!). With this auto-takedown, I get no more satisfaction of a successful takedown by my own hands or risk failing a takedown!!! The game has been dumbed down as compared to its prequels doh.gif

The second thing is the third person cutscene mentioned by Adam Sessler. Well, there isn't any actual cutscene seen in the video which I can comment on but he said it was not so good. I hope they stick to the original art style cutscene of the first and second Thief game with pre-cutscene proverbs (which the third don't have) and not use an in-game cutscene. I like it that way.

As for the prequels, I rank Thief 2 > Thief Gold > Thief 3. I hope the AI is not as weak as the rumors said or this is very disappointing to a long time fan like me...haha biggrin.gif

Wow. Can't believe I created this thread way back in 2009 and only now it's seeing the light of day. Even funnier to see a thread with my name on it appear on the first page after a long hiatus from lyn. rclxub.gif

I guess they were really waiting for next-gen console launch first before putting it out. I wonder how many other game were delayed cause of next-gen consoles.

enjoyed thief (original) but sadly not skilled enough to complete.
enjoyed thief 2 but also lack skill to complete. finished more levels than the original thief though.
thief 3 yes finally can finish it. somehow it is much easier than thief 1 and thief 2 also. enjoyed it much also.

ah, dishonored low chaos ending. ok i think you will do well with thief.
well, in thief, you play the role of master thief - garrett.
he is normal human, no super natural powers.
well, super above average human thief skills i guess.
one of his eyes is mechanical though.

not sure what other enhancements he got throughout these years though.

heheh first person stealth games is macam dishonored lor.
i think deus ex human revolution can also considered first person stealth.

Ok count deus ex hr in. So this reboot would be a good fetch right?? Saw some previews and demo, looks promising but doesn't look good on the preview part (maybe its coz it was compared to the old thief games though), just hope not making the same mistake like the Bureau XCOM fiasco.

All the reviews are really rough on Thief.
I've just finished chapter 2 and it seems to be great.
Soundtrack I kinda dislike it but graphic and gameplay wise quite good.
Need to really go 100% stealth mode though, game is really hard, to fight the guard 1v1 that is.

The lighting system of stealth somehow is not good though, and the AI sucks if you play on lower difficulty.
Need to raise the bar for the guards to have good awareness. AI needs some work as a whole.

You made me go and read some of the reviews.

Most of the reviews that are some what negative toward this game have problem with the combat.

Seems like someone is just playing the game wrong and tries to kill everything that moves but got their a$$ handed to them.

People keep comparing this to Dishonored but they forget that you play an assassin in Dishonored while in Thief you played a lowly thief. In this game, you are punished if you choose to engage in combat because this is a pure srealth game which focus on avoiding combat.

Yes this is the problem. I though they knew that Thief was all about the stealth. Playing it the non-stealthy why will be a death sentence to Garreth.
But the game is very closed as in the levels are shut tight unlike Dishonored which is fairly big an opened. Choice for Dishonored are more while Thief is very linear without that much of a choice to stealth.

Maybe those idiot reviewers went in like Dishonored. The game wasn't meant for combat, but stealth is the key. I agree with Rei7 that it was really linear, but I don't believe that this game deserves something like a 6-7...maybe because I haven't played the older games...
The graphic's are damn beautiful, maybe because of next-gen. I really hate the "mash E to open window", damn stupid lah, makes my PC looks like last-gen having texture streaming problem, need time to stream lol...

The graphics looks good because Thief is one of the first commercial games that is using Unreal Engine 4. Thats why it looked significantly better than other UE3 games.

If people went in and expect it to be another Dishonored, they are bound to be disappointed.

I think this is probably the best review out there. Good Game is known for its fairly unbiased reviews, as they arent private company like IGN or Gamespot to begin with. The show is funded by government on their TV channel so i can say its harder for publishers to bribe.

The man, banjo was a thief fan from the original trilogy, while the lady is a new player to the franchise. So, you'll get a contrast on different views from the new and veteran player. And both of them play the game as a thief, not a murderer with a short stick.

Yeah, veteran player didnt like it but it seemed a bit more receptive to the new player.

i think ghost play style means 100% avoiding no blackjack knock outs as well.
i.e. the guards do not even know you were there.

knocked out with black jack means their head will sakit after they wake up.

ghost means went in and went out no one know you were there.

Ghost Playstyle

The Ghost playstyle is awarded to thieves that leave no trace of their presence. To achieve this, Ghosts call upon stealth and diversionary tactics to slip through areas unseen. Leaving guards unharmed, avoiding detection, and resisting opportunistic urges (such as extinguishing flames and picking pockets) all increase your chances of earning the Ghost playstyle. Though challenging to achieve, this playstyle often comes with the greatest end-of-mission rewards.

Opportunist Playstyle

Opportunistic thieves strive to maximize their material gains and achieve tactical advantages. Picking pockets without harming the victim and extinguishing flames to darken areas are the most common ways to earn the Opportunist playstyle. Cunning thieves can further ensure that this playstyle is received by exploiting the environment, such as by knocking down hanging objects onto unsuspecting threats. This tricky playstyle requires guile to achieve, but it’s possible if you avoid confrontation and utilize the environment.

Predator Playstyle

The Predator playstyle is perhaps the easiest to achieve, but it also comes with the greatest risk. Defeating guards in direct combat is one way to go, but this places you in peril. To achieve the Predator playstyle with minimal risk, get to higher ground and look to perform aerial takedowns on unsuspecting guards. Or simply slay guards with arrows from afar. Headshots are ideal for silent kills, but even crippling a guard with an arrow to the body or leg can set him up for a direct combat takedown. The main drawback to the Predator playstyle is the danger in which it places you, along with the cost of the arrows you’ll be using to achieve stealthy kills.

There are a bunch of people on metacritic complains that the AI is borderline retarded.

From some of the review, I read that the AI intelligence increases as you increase the difficulty spotting you much quicker, reviews pointed out that the game is fairly easy on default and only becomes more challenging at higher difficulty, so playing at easiest might not offer the best experience.

I played all 3 games before and the reboot is good, but it is just difficult to ignore that they changed too much in some ways.

Certain parts of the game feels like its mirrors edge in medieval setting.

I started off at Normal/Thief level until the Clocktower part then I restarted a new game in Master-Custom level with 435 pts because I find it not challenging enough for my first playthrough. Here's what I observe, the guards performed the same walking patterns regardless of the difficulty but the alerted/searching time seems to last longer when distracted with thrown bottles and they are more easily alerted by your footsteps or even failed lockpick!!. Dunno if the fight with them will be harder or not by they doing more damage or have more health but this is a sneaking game, so doesn't matter. The point is to avoid fight entirely anyway. I agreed with Neoeng too, I suggest you start at Master level, Deimos since the game is not that difficult if you have unlimited mid-game manual save auto-checkpoints, items upgrades, and probably no end boss encounter (lol). You can always fall back on your last save if things screwed-up, right?

Next tips is if you sneak into the locker where you hide during non-combat situation, it will serve as a save checkpoint! (unless you have chapter save or iron man mode turn on in custom settings, then no). At first I thought I could hide the guard body inside ala MGS but no, I can't. Wonder why they didn't implement that.

Also another tips, if you blackjack the guard, continue holding the melee attack/takedown button to be able to drag the body rather than have it falling to the ground. Save you time to hide the body from other nearby guards. This move will auto pickup loot the guard is carrying too but won't count as pickpocket.

Cheese, what is Mirror's Edge? A stealth game? I know what you mean though by changes too much in some way since I, too completed all 3 Thief games before. The Thief 1&2 offered much freedom and less handguiding thus more challenging and rewarding experience. We just have to accept Thief 4 for what it is and be thankful it is even rebooted. I have been waiting so long for this...

Completed Prologue: Do not open spoilers below if you have not finish the prologue level.

I agreed with Neoeng too,  I suggest you start at Master level, Deimos since the game is not that difficult if you have unlimited mid-game manual save auto-checkpoints, items upgrades, and probably no boss encounter (lol). You can always fall back on your last save if things screwed-up, right?

Next tips is if you sneak into the locker where you hide, it will serve as a save checkpoint! (unless you have chapter save or iron man mode turn on in custom settings).

*
Mirrors Edge is a first person free running game. The hands and the movement in Thief does reminds me of Mirrors Edge.

I dont mind that it changes too much from the original, it just that, it isnt really the Thief that I used to remember while the older Thief's massive levels would be quite a pain in the ass to play now. So i cant really blame them for changing it. All I care its the core: emphasis on stealth, dark and medieval cities, and crap combat, then, I am happy.

Heck, even some of my favorite gaming reboots, from Deus Ex to XCOM only maintain its core gameplay while changed everything else. The new XCOM literally have nothing much to do with the original other than a few core mechanics. As long as developers doesnt pull another crap remake like Dungeon Keeper then, I am happy.

Oooh... while I was playing the prologue chapter chasing down Erin on the rooftop, I thought to myself, wow, why didn't somebody make a parkour game!? Mirror's Edge, eh? Sounds perfect for me laugh.gif

The core of Thief 4: Let's see...
emphasis on stealth = yep, you can play Master-Custom level with no alert on and only stealth takedown or even better, no kill/knockdown on to get Ghost rank.

dark = if you mean the story plot, I can't comment since I am just in chapter 1 but Thief 1& 2 has the best dark theme story plot with its religious cult of Hammerites, Mechanists, and Pagans and incredible casts of The Trickster, Father Karras, Viktoria, etc. The cutscene artstyle, the funny dialogue between the guards and the pre-level proverb which creates the atmosphere is amazingly dark and haunting. I am glad I am able to enjoy them in its prime time. Younger gamers nowadays may not be able to appreciate the older games in this current time as they are over-exposed to a saturated market of simplified, cutscene-galore, linear new gameplay style.. it's another case of Doom 3 vs Doom 1&2. Still, better than nothing...just move on with the changes and replay back the older games when nostalgia hit blush.gif

medieval cities = not far enough to comment on the level design yet. Thief series has some graveyard-like level with undeads, cave-like level with ape beasts, haunting castles and asylum level with ghosts, baron's mansion with human guards, towers with mechanical robots, etc. I hope this one will not disappoint but if you ask me, I actually prefer the older big ass massive level of older Thief seeing I'm an old-school fps gamer and not born from post-COD tight-action-long-corridor-level era...haha tongue.gif

crap combat = not sure about combat, I have yet to fight a guard head on but Thief is not meant for to be play that way so no worry there as long as Garrett is not uber powerful like Assassin's Creed, it's fine.

They made a Dungeon Keeper reboot!?? You're talking about the mobile game, aren't you? I didn't play that so no idea but I certainly enjoyed finishing DK2 by Bullfrog last time biggrin.gif It's good to be evil and torture them heroes (and my own minions too...hehe) up close and personal via possession~ As for Deus Ex and X-Com reboot, I haven't play those yet too... sweat.gif

*

it is all right. i like easy difficulty ehheeheh.
i can play again for harder difficulty later after finish one run.

I played all 3 games before and the reboot is good, but it is just difficult to ignore that they changed too much in some ways.

Certain parts of the game feels like its mirrors edge in medieval setting.
*

good lar. because i no play mirrors edge before ehheeheh.

Anything that changes the eye symbol on top the guards to yellow raise awareness. The yellow eye symbol means that the guards know someone is there but they don't know where.

I wonder if we finish the game, do we get like new game+ mode or the chapter select because so far the only way to replay the chapter is at the mission end screen. I thought this was standard feature in many games by now. I'm very glad they do have cutscene skip feature though, very important laugh.gif

Master is not that difficult lah wei~ There is already Youtube videos on players getting ghost rank on Master difficulty for all levels.

If you're not aiming for ghost rank, you can still kill/knockout guards to have a good time. Just you can't knockout/kill a civillian only mah but you can douse the flame nearby to hide yourself or distract him/her using thrown bottle. That is how I passed chapter 1
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Also, in Master, the items found ie arrows is also lesser but you can always rely on your stealth takedown from behind. No aerial takedown as this will raise suspicions. Just drop down, pickpocket and do your normal stealth takedown and drag the body to hide. Upgrades and resources are also more expensive so only buy critical items and try not to waste resources. Focus rate deplete faster so use them sparingly, if at all smile.gif

Iron Man mode can save lah, no need drink red bulls and finish in one go..haha. You can stop and save your game to continue later on. Just that where any death or failed mission will causes a restart of the entire game from the beginning meaning you only have one shot at it. I tried this and it won't let me continue when I got alerted with no alert on tongue.gif

In a way it could be redundant to have free jumping now but back then, that's how Thief 1&2 was, it allows players to freely explore the area as they wish reaching non-scripted higher grounds and add to immersions. Still, nothing big to shout about if it's not implemented. Same with the sword, Garrett has no sword to combat in Thief 4 so avoid fight loh but he does have dodge and swoop so you probably can use them to run away and hide.

Tips: If you want zero suspicion, do not throw bottles to distract guards or douse a flame directly in front of the guard, no aerial takedown, no missed shot with your arrows, etc. As said by Neoeng, watch out for the eye symbol, if it's white eye, the guards are almost suspicious so hide fast, if it has 1-3 red dots, he is suspicious/distracted and if he has yellow eye, he draw his sword, knows someone is here but don't know your location yet.

Vorador, chapter 1 near ending guards you mean them?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Difficulty:
Rogue
- Opponents are weak and less aware (they're oblivious).
- Resources are low in cost and plentiful.

Thief
- Opponents are competent and aware (they're mediocre in the awareness department).
- Resources are affordable and available.

Master
- Opponents are deadly and civilian kills or knockouts are not tolerated (you better not make a single noise!).
- Resources and upgrades are more expensive.
- The Focus meter depletes at a much faster rate.

If you're aiming for that 700pts or more achievement, the same options are available when you choose Custom and that determines the "difficulty modifier" ... so getting above 700 on even Thief difficulty is IMPOSSIBLE because the Thief multiplier is 0.5 ... even with every custom settings on, it's only 650 total. But with all of them turned on with Master difficulty, the total points is 1300, so you can find a playstyle that is challenging and fits what you find fun around 700-800 fairly easily.

Tips: I noticed that I cannot achieve all 4 thieving challenge in chapter 1. The end mission screen just show me two thieving challenges only so perhaps it must depends on your rank. If you are ghost rank, the thieving challenge you get in the end is (almost always) remain undetected, if you are opportunist, the second challenge whatever it is, if you get predator, it's the third challenge and the last challenge "get all loot" is you always have regardless of rank. So just focus on what rank you want at the end and do the right thieving challenge.

You're welcome smile.gif A stealth game has to be challenging to be fun. Just like example, playing NFS street racing game, if the police are not good enough to catch you, you will be driving solo the entire way and that is less fun tongue.gif Haha...that's my first playthrough style too in Thief where I knocked out EVERYONE or in Tenchu where EVERYONE is stealth killed or in MGS EVERYONE is tranquilized! blush.gif Easier to search for items and escape later~ Then when I'm more familiar with the maps, only do I do ghost mode. For stealth part, I think MGS have more way to being stealth as it has more option to do on the enemy without getting spotted such as hidding in a box, putting a p0rn magazine on the floor haha biggrin.gif eventho MGS has an OP tranqualizer sweat.gif For Thief I think that it has very limited on what you should do throughout the mission but still it is a great game tho. icon_rolleyes.gif

^Agreed nod.gif Both are good in their own ways. By the time you're done with Thief 4, you can start on Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes on March 18, 2014, if you have a ps3/xbox 360 or ps4/xbox one console laugh.gif

Well all I can say is the gameplay is great if you are really into stealth mode.
I actually did it, no kill, no knockouts in Master difficulty biggrin.gif
Story could have been more immerse..could have made each cutscene long so we could enjoy the story..
But no.. every cutscene is just way to short... Understand the story quite well but it's not that good in terms of story sadly..
The story would have been good if it has a longer cutscene to get us a bit excited.

AMD keys value is very low on market. it was cheaper last month for $10 when Thief was announced as one of the bonus for Silver and Gold tier reward. so you don't lose much.

and it doesn't have preorder value like Steam coz no TF2 and ODTA 2 items.

Apparently knocking out guards count towards predator style.

the stealth upgrade is pretty pointless, especially in Master difficulty. the focus meter drain VERY FAST in Master so I hardly use it.

if we turn on the "No Focus" option in diffculty setting then we can't access these upgrades, right?

Is there a level select after you complete a chapter? Like if you missed getting all the collectibles in chapter 1, can you go back and replay that chapter?
*
i just found a way to replay a chapter. just go back to the starting place where you start the chapter to replay it.

i found the starting point to replay chapter 1 just now.

Wow...good find! rclxms.gif Thanks for informing. I noticed the Starting Points / Entry Points of Chapters, Side Missions and Client Jobs in Thief are not marked on the world map so here's a link if you want to find any of them.

You can replay all missions at any time (even after beating the story) to finish up missing collectibles, completing optional challenges or achievements.

Playing Thief at low is gonna be boring. Even normal is boring. I'm playing on hard.
Guards are like stupid little humans at normal lol!

I played at Master level a while though but finished it at Normal. I find the game quite good for a while la... I hope they have the Thief vs Thief kind of mode.

I know Thief 3 has the Cradle mission that was pretty well know for its horror.

If I am not wrong, Thief 4 has a similar mission as Cradle in Thief 3.
