I heard the latest 80Gb version has 2 laser lens
Lens A : BD Lens (BD Games & Movies) Lens B : DVD/CD Lens (DVD Movies & CD Audio)
I guess this would be a better unit, at least when BD lens spoil, DVD/CD still can work.
Those with problem reading BD can try DVD / CD disc and see whether its still working?? I m just curious.

QUOTE(snipersnake @ Oct 7 2008, 06:06 AM) not to mock you or what, but seriosly, where did you heard this news? If it was from some sungai wang retailer then forget it. PS3 only has one lens. Thats it. Observe the mechanism on the thing. Either Sony does an overhaul to the design (which will cost more) than having a dual lens is financially impossible. lol bro....the picture you are showing is actually KES-410ACA which IS A DUAL LASER model. Further link to substantiate my claim, refer : http://www.edepot.com/playstation3.html (See under title Blue-Ray Drive) http://www.modsupplier.com/catalog/ps3-kes...lens-p-270.htmlhttp://www.ps2laser.co.uk/id46.htmhttp://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/20762426...lens_Laser.html

CECHH onwards all comes with dual laser already which includes the Sony Malaysia official model CECHK06.
If scared of lens kaput, here's what I did, all my movie, anime and mp3 collection is in my PC which is over 2 terabyte, so I install a media streaming software. The PS3 auto detect the streaming server and I can browse my entire collection, I can play any movie I want over WIFI or over LAN.

QUOTE(nwk @ Oct 7 2008, 03:16 PM) what streaming software do you use? I use TVersity. Freeware and easy to setup. If your PC and WIFI router supports UPnP and u switch it on. Your PS3 will auto detect the media server. Download and read more from HERE Added on October 7, 2008, 3:23 pmOh ya, another point is that the connectors and other boards for the single laser and dual laser is totally different. So u guys no need to worry about shops swapping the dual laser with the single laser module. A not so good news is that users with older model (single laser) also cannot upgrade to the newer dual laser module. This post has been edited by yupio: Oct 7 2008, 03:23 PM
