yes it's true. the double lens PS3 started with the 40GB models. if you are a proud owner of the 40GB PS3 or malaysian 80GB PS3, you have a double lens PS3.

QUOTE(Cyphereza @ Oct 7 2008, 12:02 PM) Yeah, I heard this too. First hand from a supplier (not sure if he's BS-ing me) that's why you don't buy ps3 from places like sungai wang. those shops there won't think twice about conning you. They say some shops take out the original lens and put in a cheaper lens and that's why they can sell the PS3 at a very low price |

QUOTE(yupio @ Oct 7 2008, 03:14 PM) CECHH onwards all comes with dual laser already which includes the Sony Malaysia official model CECHK06. what streaming software do you use?If scared of lens kaput, here's what I did, all my movie, anime and mp3 collection is in my PC which is over 2 terabyte, so I install a media streaming software. The PS3 auto detect the streaming server and I can browse my entire collection, I can play any movie I want over WIFI or over LAN. |

loumou, do you take care of your ps3? i mean do you clean your ps3 or you let it collect dust until you get yellow light? i read somewhere about a guy whose ps3 died and he send it back to sony. when those guys at sony opened his ps3, they found it was full of dust and refused to repair it for free.

QUOTE(loumou @ Nov 22 2008, 01:58 PM) i tried it,but it seems unable to proceed to that step.......after green light(1 sex),den turn to yellow(1/2 sec), lastly red light keep blinking........ the symptoms you described are what guys on the net call, the yellow light of death. generally it means there's a hardware failure in your PS3. the only way to fix this is to send it back to Sony. sigh....... read here for more info: After Dawn Forums |

QUOTE(pukarix @ Feb 9 2009, 04:49 PM) hey guys... YLOD only affects the 60 GB PS3 which is not in production anymore. now sony malaysia and other game shops are selling the 80 GB PS3. so far nobody got YLOD on this model.i finally gave up with my 2nd 360..both had the RROD problem.so i ve sold off everything n considering switching to ps3..i m planning to get a MY set. i was just wondering...is this YLOD thingy a normal thing among malaysian ps3 consoles?googled around n found out that d failure rate is only at 1%.. but after reading through this thread,it sounds like d failure rate is higher.. thanks in advance |
