Sorry all.Just ask here.

I have a 2 year old PS3 40G Malaysian set. It belongs to my big bro.The problem is the Blue Ray driver cannot detect the disc when I want to insert the disc into the driver.Supposedly the driver will pull in the blu ray disc inside the console when you insert 1/5 of the disc into the "disc hole" at the console. But mine one cannot detect cause the motor wouldn't functional.I have already ask for opinion from Yus and Benard. Both said because of the driver problem but need to check further more.

Is it because of the driver or because of the sensor?Do you all here ever had any problem like mine? How much it cost for the repair?Hlp pls

Sorry.My mistake.

My big bro's PS3 is a 40G Singapore set. When cannot play he just throw that thing back to me and ask me to fix the BD Driver.Dunno what to do since I only heard that PS3 only got 3 issue of hardware failure(lense, Hdd or YLOD).

Aih

I've just got back from Benard with yus.At first I thought it was because of BD drive because the drive is malfuntion cannot suck in the disc. But when try at benard shop, it function normally just cannot detect disc.So it was a lense problem from the beginning.Haiyaa made me worry all the time.Well he changed the lense and my ps3 is ok again. Kena RM 300 but it still not exceed my budget.

update:

got it back from sony centre. over the phone, my sis said that the sony representative told her that her ps3 has been repaired and they changed some board (circuit board?) inside the ps3.

however, when my sis went to collect it, she was told that the only thing they did was doing a updating it to the latest firmware (it was on 2.76) and also a factory reset.

lol inconsistencies.

Hi guys,

I juz on my PS3, suddenly the PS3 juz turned off by itself in the XMB (the system was idle and i didn't play any game at that time), with the red light kept on blinking. I off my console, then turn it on again, the green light turns into yellow and quickly turned to red blinking again. Is this the YLOD? Btw, my console is 60GB version. Thanks.

Honestly dude.

Welcome to our YLOD party.

Any simple diagnosis that i can do to identify which is the hardware problem that causes YLOD, like formatting the hard drive? So what are the options for me to fix my console? Is Sony Malaysia taking in my console for repair even though mine is 60GB Japanese launch model? Btw, anyone knows where is the nearest Sony service center to Subang area? Thanks.
*
YLOD may happened due to many factor but common causes are mostly becoz of the overheating and HDD failure. To detect if it were caused by HDD failure, you can try to format the HD or swap a new one.If still failure then probably its the processor malfunction due to overheating. This problem always occured to the earlier model of PS3(20G, 60G and 40g) since the procesor is made by metal.Sony tried to solved the prob by changing the chip with Polythene material when 80g PS3 is launched so its hardly to get YLOd with 80g model and onwards unless you played the ps3 in the middle of a hot desert 24/7 nonstop or in the closed room with improper ventilation.

Err about Sony Malaysia, I'm afraid they wouldn't take the JP set unless it was a MY set.But you can try to contact lowyat forum YLOD fix specialist via email or pm for any advice.Just my 2cent.

80g Singapore set owner experience frequent auto power off while playing. Set was close to 2 yrs age. Notice the air flow is very hot come out form the console.... damn, how to cool down this console.... ???

IMHO,..2 things bro.

1) Play in the room with low humidity aka air conditioned.

2)Install the external fan on the back of your PS3.Try browse few previous pages from here. There's someone in the forum have tried it and it works(depends on luck).

I also want to put extra fans behind my 40g PS3 like our Monyetbesi. Problem is I don't know whether the fans should be suck in or blow in inside the PS3.Is there any recommendation on how should I put to fan?

I already buy the USB's laptop fan and will try to cut and paste behind my ps3 tonight. And that fan will be generated with usb power supply comes from the PS3.The speed quire slow one but at least could prevent YLOD.Any suggestion whether to used the power supply from the 3 phase plug or from the USB.

Ye la I forgot to ask bro nyet.

Bro nyet, I have a problem le.I already try to cut and connect the fan's wire to the plug head but i dun know how to connect it using 3pin plug. And which voltage would you suggest that I should minimized to?So far already 3 fan burn because of dun know whether salah pasang kat plug ke or over voltage.

Please advice since my ps3 macam tgh nazak already 30min dah go hyperdrive.
