QUOTE(Serpentarius @ May 11 2009, 12:52 PM) very thick red coat .... hmmm .. it is already mirror shine i must admit .. it's a really smooth painting .. but i'll be best if you use a very thin red coat with a thick clear coat .. if i may suggest, get a drill with the car polishing drill bit ... (use wool) .. and some polishing compound ... it just takes around 5 min .. to buff it up and had a great mirror shine maybe some wax will do to give it more shine This post has been edited by tjay_tj: May 11 2009, 02:58 PM |

Whoaaa...so many people interested. Hope this will be famous internationally. I must use victorian English from now. Hehe..
Well as for the paint job, I didn't do it myself. Although I've been using can spray for quite sometimes (I own a scooter, hence scooter community), but there's no way I can get the EVEN glossy finish without using industrial spray method. Any car paint shop will do this for you...just look around. Ask around for their reputation. Don't be tempted to go for cheap price only when you will only end up regretting (due to uncommited work; i.e: pimples - most common due to bad job in polishing, paint smear - uneven distribution of spray etc.). RM100~200 would be just fine for a flat type (non metallic / flakes). I believe that should be the price range since my scooter cover set cost around RM300~400 to be painted (which is a lot bigger than a computer case) As for, me I admit of rating 6/10 of the paint job due to the thickness and some minor pimples. Thick paint = longer drying time. Longer drying time = prone to scratches during the waiting period. Anyway, thanks for the referrals. I'm thinking of ONLY painting the casing, but due to overwhelming support, I'll try expanding my project further. White cable sleeving + Black interior + Red peripherals. How does that sounds? |
