i am planning to buy d60
is there any disadvantage ?
i heard that d60 cnt auto focus wor
must use what mx lens only can ?
help me
*
The D60 can auto focus with any lens which has builtin motor.

The only general disadvantage is that it can't use lenses without motor.

It must use Nikon's AF-S line of lenses.

I thought AF lens means auto Focus lens?
What you mean is those old lens without Auto focus ability, if it's mount on a built in motor body, we still be able to use Auto focus, right?
If it's mounted on D40/40x/60, might need to manual focus, am i right?

Still alot to learn for me tongue.gif

18~105mm VR lens might be good choice to play around until i have the money to get another lens perhaps. Haha.
Mind if i ask, can 18~105mm do macro?(as i know the lens don't have macro function)
*
Your understanding is not entirely correct.

Old lenses without AF ability are know as Manual Focus (MF) lenses. What this means is, no matter you mount this lens on any of the Nikon bodies that exists now, it still wont auto focus.

However, if you want to auto focus with D40/D40x/D60/D5000, you must use a lens that has built-in motor.

You must understand that for Nikon, there are 2 types of auto focus lenses. One that has built-in motor, one without. Nikon denotes their auto focus lenses with built-in motor as AF-S lenses and auto focus lenses without motor as AF-D lenses.

AF-D lenses can only auto focus with bodies with auto focus drive built into the body. Any Nikon DSLR apart from D40/D40x/D60/D5000 can auto focus with AF-D lenses.

I m looking for a new lense for my D60.

The lense is basically is meant for portrait, landscape and event (minimal).

Considering Nikon 18-105mm and 55-200mm. I think the price range for new one is below RM1100.

Pls advise.
*
You got to realize one is a wide zoom and another is a tele zoom.

Both lenses can be used for the functions you mentioned above. It really depends where you are from your subject.

If you're close to subject, a wider lens would be better, but if you're at a distance, using a tele lens would be the right choice.

Kudos to 3rd party manufacturers... It's amazing what kinda features they can provide with their equipment.

So, this new revision allows AF with the vertical shutter button?

He said that after using my other friend's D70s, he really love the top part LCD screen. Convenient he said. I already tell him, better save some more money and buy D90 but he just want to listen some advice for you all.
*
Well, if budget is an issue for him then there's nothing wrong with getting the Nikon D80.

Mind to explain more about bounce flash? Is it the flash pointed up instead of pointing to the object that we going to shoot ?

Got ancient feel tongue.gif
EXIF please !!!!! so i can learn learn also, kakaka tongue.gif

P/S : I see some people will say something like "stopping down", what does it means?
*
QUOTE
What is stopping down?

I've had a number of emails asking about this. When you stop down a lens, you are going to a larger number/smaller aperture and therefore less light. Going from f/8 to f/11 is stopping down. The opposite is opening up; going from f/11 to f/8 is moving towards the smaller number/larger aperture and therefore more light.

thats wat i want, exactly wat my uncle's tripod can do, poisoned by it  tongue.gif
my budget is RM200-300, add on rm10-20 oso can(i want tripod + ballhead)
currently interested in Benro, is it good?
n i headache choosing which Benro model, got so many within my budget
*
I just got one benro tripod (A-158 N6) + benro ballhead (KS-0) and one benro monopod (MP68-M8). The build quality is solid. Not too expensive like those manfrotto and gitzos.

Look for model numbers that end with M8 instead of N6 for the aluminum series. The M8 is newer tech.

The KS-0 can support D300 + MB-D10 + 80-200mm AF-D two ring + SB-800 (with 5th battery).

I got my tripod and head from YL camera and my monopod from here.

the 1 u telling me is A series M8 tripod, but i was looking at A series EX tripod
sorry for the confusion  notworthy.gif
M8 r more expensive?
i noticed that M8 tripods not quick lock legs  nod.gif

QUOTE
Compared with Benro Generation ll A-series n6 Tripod, the main components of the M8 Tripod introduces Magnesium material which is 30% lighter yet offer superior stability and unti-vibration capacity. The legs use improved 1.2mm thick aluminum tubing and are integrated into a design which maximizes their strength. Magnesium is used to complete the tripod for a result that's 20% lighter you'll appreciate it when working in the field.
not M8 more expensive, but the Mg-Aluminium A Series is more expensive than the Mg-Al Traditional EX. The Mg-Al Traditional EX is usually sold as a kit with ballhead.

Also, do note that YL camera's benro stock is old. A lot still is older N6 model for the Mg-Aluminium A Series.

The Mg-Al Traditional EX you're looking for doesn't have M8 or N6 notation. Sorry for the confusion.

The Mg-Aluminium A is better built than the Mg-Al Traditional EX, which explains the price difference. A kit that costs cheaper than just the legs.

hey guys! Well, I think there is something wrong with my d60. If you guys look carefully at the photo above, you could see a line vertically... Is it something wrong with my sensor? ><""

The line is some where near the middle/statue.

Thx in advance for any replies ^^
*
It certainly looks like a sensor related problem. I think that issue will only show up when you use small aperture in broad daylight.

Better get it checked if under warranty.

i forgot to ask u for an advise yesterday
about the tripod, 3 sections or 4 sections legs r better?
*
I personally prefer 3 sections. But if 4 sections, your tripod will take less space when folded, good for traveling. However, I find it "time consuming" to extend the tripod legs on a 4 section tripod.

i heard that 3 sections n 4 sections have different stability between the 2, is it true?
if yes, which is more stable?
*
I believe the sections doesn't affect the stability. You just have to make sure you check the specs and see how much load (maximum weight) it can support.

3/4 sections is merely a size factor for the tripod. But if not mistaken, 4 section may support less load.

Check out the specs here.

P.S. illegaldragon87 I may join you guys.

Huhu~ real thanks for replying~! Yeap it's still under warranty. I assume that I have to take it back to Nikon service center instead of the shop where I bought it eh? ><" I wonder what caused that... Hmm....

@General_Nic hahaha~ no worries, the white dot is distracting I know, but I purposely framed it in, =P Its the moon actually~ wakakakakkaa~ =P
*
That is the right assumption. You send to shop, they send to Nikon. So, might as well go straight to Nikon if still under warranty. Turnaround time should be faster.

thanks you very much for the advice. frankly, i'm a real big fan of nikon. but people around me told me that i should buy 500D instead coz the specs and etc are musch better. even mags reviews says that 500D are much better compare to D5000. whatever it is, i went to a store and hold both cam for the first time. nikon suits me the best. i've decided to go nikon. to me, most importantly are the feel, weight and the body looks more solid than canon...

Get a feel for both and get whichever one that feels better in your hands. No point comparing specs and not one is better than the other. At the end of the day, it's your shot that matter. And whether good or bad, the camera is not to be blamed/credited but yourself.

I'm not asking for D300 body price.. I'm asking for D300s thumbup.gif Anyways, I'm thinking of changing my lens la. Or maybe buying new. If change. Change 18-55mm VR to Tamron 17-55mm f/2.8. If buy new, maybe 35mm f/1.8G. Which option better?Or go with both options? blush.gif

If got money then just get both.
