I saw an ad in the papers last week i think. on SAMSUNG's new LED TV.

Anyone seen it already? Any idea how much it cost?

Found a review here:
http://www.slashgear.com/ces-2009-samsung-...led-tv-0729265/

Below is from the Star.
===============================================================================================
KUALA LUMPUR: Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd aims to increase its flat-panel TV market share to 35% with the launch of its new range of LED flat-panel TVs – the LED TV Series 8, Series 7 7000 and Series 6 6000.

According to managing director Yoon Ki-Heung, the company is confident of achieving the target as its range of LED TVs incorporated cutting-edge display technologies, innovative design and environmentally-friendly features.

“Consumers still want perfect picture quality and to enjoy high-quality pictures on large screen,” Yoon told reporters after launching its first full-line LED TVs yesterday.

Last year, the company had a 25% market share in the same category.

“Samsung has pioneered a new species in the TV market with our LED TVs that redefines the standards for viewing quality, home entertainment décor and energy efficiency,” Yoon said.

Since the LED TV had done well in countries like South Korea, where its demand had quadrupled when it was launched, “we are confident we can do something similar here,” he said.

Yoon said he expected the TV market to grow further this year despite the current market situation and that the immense market potential of the new category was expected to help drive towards its target of selling 26 million flat-screen TVs globally in 2009.

I saw one displayed at ikano during the HN fair. It costs a silly 80K. Didn't go check the size of the screen.

That sounds more reasonable....but still very expensive...but has anyone actually sees it in Action? How is the image quality?

I think SONY's latest motionflow TV also around that price (9k to 10k)....saw the motionflow, seems like got good and bad...watched part of "Open Seasons" on Motionflow TV, seems like really improved smoothness and frame rates, then somewhere else some concert video or something, not sure what's the source but there seems to be extra smoothness in the frame rates, but however at the same time, introduced blurriness as well...don't really like it.

You are referring to the MotionFlow TVs?

I wonder if it can create additional frame rates for video games...then you can have better frame rates in games even if your game lags?? LOL.

Seriously...who watch RTM??? LOL.

I think local models here might not have DVB-T built in, like most cases with the similar models that reach our shore. But since this is new and high-end stuff, maybe it's included.

Nah, i'm just guessing. So far, most of the LCD TV here has been cascarated with the Digital TV tuner when it reach our shores...but since this is like RM10K TV, maybe they leave it there to justify the high price.

dont need to wait, as long as you feel that you want to change and have the budget then just go for it, there's no such things as wait...

but the time LED TV drop to the current price range of LCD TV a new one will come out....

Maybe 5 years?

Anyway, if FULLHD TV can drop to around RM1K (32"), I think LED will have a hard time penetrating the market...price factor is still the numero factor in our market.

LED TV no full hd? hmm.gif

but currently LCD TV only available for 40" onwards, so only those with budget to go for 40" will choose LED TV while 32" remains the lower range, maybe next time the LED TV will come out 32" onward then the current full HD will be kick out for sure, just like out non-flat CRT and flat CRT laugh.gif
