Hye guys..
Is anyone still here? LoL..i know 24 is finished now but i hope we regularly can come back here if anything 24 related pops up.. Anyways Im new here..But have been a 24 addict since season 1.. I found this thread in the middle of waiting for the episode 16-24 of the last season 8 to come out.. I got the episode 1-12 but then suddenly while waiting for the last 2 cds to come out, I found this thread.. Did not dare to come back in and see it coz would spoil my ending..I started watching season 1 and 2 again..coz my memory already lost for that two season so ok to watch again..could remember the big plots like Jack wife die and all..but was interesting to watch again.. I even turned off the entertainment news on Tv after final episode aired in the US.. Heck i even asked my friends to check on every page of the newspapers especially the world and entertainment pages before i could read them.. Right until i got my final 8 episodes yesterday.. Just finished marathon from 2am-8am.. Relieved at the ending that Jack » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « ..I really thought » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « in the last episode..I was not that sad with the ending..touched but not that sad..I was even sadder at the end of season 4 though when Jack walked into the sunset and that 'Jack Bauer' had died..I was scared for the ending if » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « ..even though he hated her..or » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « .So lets wait for the movie..Hope that also Jack » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « ..Hey..is there any way possible somebody other than FOX suddenly decide to make season 9? I think if it was legally possible for others to continue the show, it could make big ratings in the future.. Or suddenly FOX realised they make a mistake to stop 24 and want to continue? aaaa..wishful thinking..hope it can be done.. Now dunno what to do..will be watching season 3 after this and waiting for my CTU replica shirt and Jack Bauer action figure to arrive.. JACK BAUER..THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING.. we will miss u |

QUOTE(dxjb @ Jun 4 2010, 11:42 AM) Hye guys.. Legally it's possible if Fox decide to sell the rights to others, IF there is any other network wants to buy. However, the prime reason they cancel is because the ratings are not high enough to offset the cost. It's still an expensive show to make. Normal average cost per episode for any regular tv show is at least one million usd. That is why NBC tried to cut corners last year by putting Jay Leno on 10pm time slot so that they can stop making one hour drama, this move failed miserably by the way. I digress. I doubt other network would want to continue the show by buying the rights (it cost a FORTUNE). Besides, if it has enough rating, Fox wouldn't have cancel it to begin with. 24 was one of their signature shows. In tv history, only a very few shows were able to save by other networks, like Scrub, Buffy but ultimately they will ended after a couple of seasons. From a business standpoint, it's just more cost effective to make a new show than to continue an old show that is gradually decreasing in the ratings. Since all these shows are free on network tv in US (I don't know how it works overseas), the networks rely on ratings to get ad revenues. Without rating, no ad revenue to pay for any show.Is anyone still here? LoL..i know 24 is finished now but i hope we regularly can come back here if anything 24 related pops up.. used to be one of my fav show
just dunno why i can't bear it watch the last season past ep18 maybe just b'cos i'm sick of how they portrayed Jack as indestructible super heroes you got tasered, got tied to a chair & got beaten the crap out, got stab in the stomach, got shot by assault rifle (with kevlar on), and at the next hour, you're fully recovered!! Amazing! |

QUOTE Jack Bauer’s Movie Adventures Stalled, Tony Scott May Direct ![]() What’s a guy gotta do to get a “24″ movie on the big screen already? If Fox has its way, it’s going to be a while, because according to “24″ producer Howard Gordon, who says he’s now no longer involved with the movie, screenwriter Billy Ray’s take on Bauer on the big screen “wasn’t strong enough or compelling enough to the studio obviously to move ahead with it,”, and as a result, the movie is in limbo until the studio can get a script, or a pitch that intrigues them enough to greenlight the potentially expensive, International-set action picture. Gordon also introduces an interesting element — director Tony Scott (“Unstoppable”) has become involved. Gordon tells Assignment X (via Dark Hoirizons): QUOTE The movie is something that right now I’m not engaged or involved in. The rumors are that [director] Tony Scott has an idea that he is going to run it by or has run it by Kiefer Sutherland. I don’t know what the status of it is. One thing’s for sure, though: the “24″ movie won’t feature the “real-time” gimmick of the TV show, and it will definitely be set Internationally, seeing as how Jack left the end of the TV series a wanted fugitive in his own country (again). |
