hi everyone
i just got back from perth and am catching up on all this information but need some advice
1.If i had updated a 3g iphone to apple official 3.1 firmware and now have lost my jailbreak and unlock what is my best option?Do i downgrade?How?Will i be able to unlock or only jailbreak and wait for dev team to come up with unlock?
2.If i had just got a brand new 3gs running on 3.0.1 and ultrasnow to unlock,what do i need to do to ensure in future i can update to new firmware and still maintain my unlock?
3.If i had just got a brand new 3gs official unlock 3.1 firmware,do i need to do the saurik on file method etc etc

so confused man
Can some kind soul please advice me

To jailbreak, it does not matter if your's are factory unlock or lock phones. If your phone comes preloaded with fw3.1 or OTB (Out of The Box), then you are out of luck in jailbreaking (only applies for 3Gs phones).

Why?
Becoz of the ECID and SHSH thing. To be able to jailbreak fw3.1, you must have the 3.0 @ 3.0.1 ECID and SHSH. If you grab the ECID and SHSH for 3.1, then you can only jailbreak fw3.1.x or 3.2 in the future.

Previously from firmware 3.1 (before jb), i faced this issued and called up to maxis center. They suggested me to hard reset the phone by holding the switch off button and home button for around 12 secs. After that just switch on back your phone.....it should works fine after that. If the problem still persist, then can do a restore lo.

i dont know bro.I am on celcom using maxis set.There is no tethering option.It disappeared.I used a custom mobile config when on 3.0.1 and that worked.Now no more.Please advice your case and how u manage to get tethering on 3.1.2 .

I am on 3.1.2 and yes its draining my battery fast when on 3g but i dont know if its normal as i cant test as i cant seem to put my iphone down.3.1.2 has increased my 3g and wifi connection considerably and my network is more stable though.Anyone has tested on standby for 3.1.2?Also to note that initially i just updated from 3.0.1 to 3.1.2 but after that i did a clean restore to 3.1.2 and set up as a new phone which makes my 3gs feels much better and smoother

bro once u click make it rain,and phone goest to restore mode itunes will open up.Kill itunes and kill the blackra1n app.Open blackra1n app again click make it rai1n again.It worked for some.Please also note that for 3g sets it's a bit stubborn and u need to be persistent and do it several times.Good luck

Also mattj i hope yours is an official unlock set as blackra1n will only jb your phone and not unlock it.If u need to unlock the phone then use custom ipsw by using pwnagetool 3.1.4 but can only do it on a mac. Good luck
