QUOTE(haclegaspi @ Dec 14 2009, 11:45 AM) Hey guys, I'm heading overseas in a couple of days, I'm just wondering would the BIS still be available? I have a prepaid plan from Maxis btw. Dont advise U to use your BB under roaming service. The roaming charges will shock U.

QUOTE(skyline1301 @ Dec 19 2009, 06:44 PM) digi dun have huh?? erm, does it support tethering or not?? and which one is better huh between maxis and celcom?? Depend on which BB u plan to use. Tour 9630, Storm 9530, Storm 2 9550 will not work well on Celcom. For unlimted tethering so far, all telco also support. Depend on which package U plan to sub. What dont U tell us what U plan to do with your BB, where is your location, what BB U using. Then will recommend U which telco is work best.

QUOTE(annbabygirl @ Dec 27 2009, 08:32 PM) I think I'm having the same problem here. I just got my berry from my auntie, she bought for me from KL and it is AP set. I don't buy frm maxis because it has been 2 months I'm waiting for b.berry javelin stock but still they don't have for it. Right now, should I purchase the BIS prepaid packages to surfing using my wifi? (I'm using prepaid) Because I've been trying few times to connect using wifi but I doesn't work at all. I'm wondering why. I'm new berry user here, 0% knowledge everything that works with b.berry. Since U already got BB from Aunty, Why dont just sign up a BIS plan from any telco and enjoy the features.

QUOTE(wah chai @ Jun 7 2010, 10:36 AM) my desktop manager v5.01 can't update my bold 9000 and curve 8520 os/software to v5 . don't have update list of v5 os/software.i need manually update it to v5.i feel weird.desktop manager should feature update os/software function This had to blame our lazy telco. BB OS is actually telco dependent. Every OS that installed on their set are tested and approved before roll out to users. I am sure all our Telco dont have their approved version of OS5 for 9000. That is why we use manual method to update to OS5. This post has been edited by mikelanding: Jun 7 2010, 10:55 AM

Added on June 11, 2010, 10:33 am@mikelanding: i'm still trying to figure out why all of our cdma bb with digi are not getting bis, have quite a few cases here at the office, while bold 9700 seems to not have any problems at all mine is 9550 Verizon set. Pls make sure on the "Mobile Network Options" --> Choose "GSM/UMTS" on Network Technology

QUOTE(sniza1144 @ Jun 11 2010, 12:15 PM) i have the same problem with my 9550. Went to Digi centre, they mention that they did an upgrade on their system on WED 9 JUNE 2010. This have effected some user including me..plus when i showed them my ph ..they were like ohh Verizon...we got few customer that came to us also prob with their ph from verizon carrier. I hope this is not the same prob that we got with maxis last time. If anyone has a solution please post it...really in need of assistants. Even u visited digi centre also they cant solve? Did they offer u any solution? Guess I am the lucky bunch who didnt face any problem on Digi. What I can think now is 1) "Mobile Network Options" --> Choose "GSM/UMTS" on Network Technology 2) try "untick" the Mobile network, then tick back after fews secs. Normally I did this if my 9550 didnt manage to connect to BIS.

QUOTE(stuffx @ Jun 14 2010, 12:19 PM) yeah we knew about that long time ago.. but for u to simply say that it's our fault is quite ridiculous since the verizon set is a CDMA+GSM and not fully CDMA device.. and yet no one can explain why there are only a FEW verizon set users are affected and not ALL.. and for ur info the digi CS themselves told that they are aware regarding this issue after some adhoc upgrades and they're still rectifiying.. they didnt simply say that the verizon set is not compatible, but they told us to ensure that the device is not locked or partially locked I am totally agree with your point. 9550 is a world band phone meaning CDMA AND GSM. Also what clamshot said is not correct. It is not our fault rather than is Digi itself. I did many times asked Digi about their BIS support 9550 or not. They told me confidently and proudly it fully support. (Proudly because they knew other 2 telco having problem support Tour at that time)

QUOTE(foogie @ Jun 14 2010, 10:48 PM) My bis stopped working again this evening after coming back to kl from penang. I tested a theory dat this problem exists only in klang valley and kuching. Edge was small letters. Anyways, I drove to nilai just nw, near seremban rest stop, restarted my phone (turn power off and on) voila, works! Whether the hypothesis is proven true or nt, up to u. Your theory might be right. I at Melaka all this time, my 9550 (Verizon) on digi BIS havent face any connection problem. Now need Verizon set using at Johor to confirm the theory.

QUOTE(olygopoly @ Aug 22 2010, 08:35 PM) Want to ask here, if we want to upgrade our BB OS let say from 5.0.0.xxx -> 5.0.0.862 do we have to delete the vendor.xml file. What happen if we didnt delete it ? I manage to upgrade to 5.0.0.862 but didnt delete the vendor.xml file. Do i have to reinstall back the OS ? Thanks. If you managed to install without venfor.xml file is ok. Dont worry about it.

QUOTE(olygopoly @ Aug 22 2010, 09:00 PM) thanks mike. dats a relieve. but then what is with this 'vendor.xml' file all about. y do we need to delete it Vendor.xml is a text file that is distributed with most OSs and it defines which OS variants may be installed on which phones from which carriers. This file would stop, for instance, OS 4.6.1.200 (ficticious) being installed on a phone from carrier Zyz that had released OS 4.6.1.175 (also ficticious) . It would also stop you from installing OS 4.6.1.180 (equally ficticious) On you phone from carrier Xyz whaere the OS had come from carrier Abc. Removing this file removes the restriction thus enabling you to install any 8900 OS on your 8900 phone. Simple really - once you know. Source: Crackberry post#3
