In light (or the lack of it) of the recent heated exchange of words and flame wars in almost all the Top 4s' threads here, let us discuss on something more heartwarming and less risk (I hope) of a battle of words again.

Being a football fanatic and having dated a few girls, I find it amusing to see how different girl approaches and acts differently towards football. I used to have this girlfriend who was obviously very annoyed with my passion for the game. I remember this conversation once:

Me: Have you heard of Lionel Messi?
Her: What? Who?
Me: Lionel Messi?! One of the best football players around! He's so famous!
Her: When YOUR girlfriend doesn't know who whatever Messi is, obviously he's not popular enough!

As for my current girlfriend, she is slowly picking up on the game and she's actually very receptive towards supporting Liverpool! We went to Anfield together and now she can even memorise the Torres, Gerrard and You'll Never Walk Alone songs by heart! smile.gif

So, come fill in your stories that involve your other halves and the beautiful game. For you single guys, you can even tell us about your parents with their funny antics and sentiments toward the game or something similar.

Please, do not drag club comparisons and rivalries into this thread. Keep it light and fun!

During a double date. Me and my mates are Utd fans.

The conversation is in BM.

Me: Lepas ni kita tengok game tau.
My to be wife: Ala, penting ke game tu? (In her manja voice)
Me: Semua game penting lah. mad.gif
My mate to his GF: Ahh,, dengar tu apa dia cakap. tongue.gif

Conclusion: United > GF.

my ex bf was arsenal fan. meh, we din have a great time coz i felt like i was more passionate than him.lol. ever happened before? coz when some games were on and i'd see a damn nice goal and i'd text him like " so and so scored a damn nice goal!" and he'll be all, "oh? i am out. not watching".. i mean, hello? call yourself a fan? and when arsenal lose or draw, he will emo, i will emo, so both depressed and pissed and we end up being crabby.

my current bf is a mu fan and i think he's better than my ex. he adores mu. enough said. and he is ok with my passion to arsenal. but he does not make my life miserable. hell, when we lose or draw, he will try his level best to make me laugh. he makes it a point to watch arsenal games with me and when mu and arsenal games on at the same time, we'll go to mamak where both matches are showing. when we go mamak with his friends, and mu lose, he sends me home first before going all emo. and when i dont watch games coz of college or exams, he will call me. like against liverpool tat day, he called me at weird hours of the night to tell me that arshavin is so bloody amazing. pity not all mu fans are like this. no offense mu fans, most of my friends are mu fans, and they are the 'typical' ones. =p

I think watching the game with the gf and her being a football fan, even the slightest, is very sexy.

My gf is slowly picking up, she just saw Kaka's face the other day and said he was handsome and I told her, he "might be coming" to MU next season, hehe...

well i have a peculiar relationship with my wife and kid about my love for the beautiful game

my wife ask me to be fair when i'm out on games, it normally means she goes gallavanting with all her gal pals when i'm watching a match..

and my kid, knowing that I am a liverpool fan insist she be taken to my mom-in-law, so she can be a rascal while I'm out watching the match...

all in all, sometimes I think my love for my team is giving them the perfect excuse to go party when i'm out watching a match....

so yeah, i feel its the perfect arrangement for all parties (excuse the pun) whistling.gif

Luckily, my gf understands my passion for football. She never obstruct me when I'm going out for a match. She even bought me a Nike Arsenal woven jacket 2 days ago. Don't ask me how much it cost. It's around 3 figures, and it doesn't start with a 1... smile.gif

Anyway, as much as I love my gf, football is still the other half of me. biggrin.gif

Gunners till I die...

my gf knew nothing about football when i first dated her.

now, shes a true gunner. watches every match with me live, cheers, screams and jumps for a goal, remember player's names, reserve player's names, best positions to play who AND thinks arsene wenger is handsome.

i think i did a good job biggrin.gif
