They mentioned that you need a co-borrower for full-time courses (in other words, a guarantor) and part-time students have to provide a guarantor, and they also require a 30% collateral in FD. Once you fulfill these requirements, then you can get the loan.

I went to approach this loan 2 weeks ago with CIMB.

1. FD of 30% of the loan amount (But when i called them , they said need 40% FD for oversea university)
2. Your course and University must be recognized by Malaysia Higher Education Department.
3. Your course offer letter & invoice.
4. If i do remember correct, the rate is BLR+0.75%.

They will issue the cheque to the University, not you.

For your guarantor part, the requirement document is same with other home loan application.

1. IC
2. Payslip (3 months)
3. EPF

I personally went thru this, and really if u have a house, try to refinance to get cash, it is so much cheaper in interest (BLR-2.2% now) and no need 30% of FD, which is stupid, if i have so much money, why do i still borrowing loan.
