Actually cash deal is much better than share swap, as share swap, technically Sime doesn't need to pay a single cent of cash.

Anyway, market likes rumour now, any tiny bit of rumour can send stock sky-rocketing. But remember to play with buy on rumour, sell on news if one opt for gorenging.

I don't think it is Sime that accumulated the share in the open market, as if they plan for share swap, they don't want to splash out cash to get the done deal, so no reason to splash the cash to buy in the share in open market.
But surely there are some big shark taking advantage of the rumour, gorenging kau kau.

Last time, if not mistakne, I remembered MISC Ramunia take-over deal collapsed due to accounting issue, right? Can't remember quite correctly. Correct me if I am wrong.

Sime previous a mega merger that targetting biggest pure plantation stock and concentrate on plantation, now become a 'black hole', apa pun mau. From Bakun, now Ramunia. biggrin.gif

There is a rumour one bank failed the stress test according to the financial media.
Also if swine flu outbreak is severe, it might dampen the economy recovery process, just like Sars.

Something to think about after swine flu outbreak.

1998 after Asian financial crisis, Nipah virus outbreak
2002 after 911, Sars virus outbreak
2008 after global financial crisis, swine flu outbreak.

The coincident of financial financial crisis with flu outbreak seems like very correlated. hmm.gif

Anybody has any news on what Najib is suppose to say today at 12noon? liberalising the financial services sector...etc.... sigh... Maybank? RM5.50? Thats what I hear...

Foreigner can own up to 70% stake in any financial instituition except commercial bank (49%), edited for wrong interpretation.

9 new license of bank and insurance will be issued to foreign worldclass financial instuition.

I don't see why it is a major boost for the like Maybank. If they allowed new foreign large player into local market. Maybank might feel the pressure of competition.

errr... i do not understand....how? unsure.gif

Sime low is 6.40, now 6.55, 3 ticks above its low.
Genting low is 4.62, now 4.68, 3 ticks above its low.

So if CI low is -16, now with its component price improving, aggregated, CI improve from its low quite significantly.

Actually if every 30 of the major component stock up 1 tick, we can see a few point rise in CI already.

Genting rise 6 cents (4.62 - 4.68) equally to near 1.5%, so if every component stock also the same, KLCI should rise 1.5%, which equal to 970 x 1.5% = about 14 points rise/improvement.

Citigroup and BAC required to raise more capital.

It means no banks failed the stress test, but need to raise more capital.

Nice wording then. Hehe. cool2.gif

It is not about swine flu, market is spooked because of comment of US Regulator told Citi and BoA to "raise more capital", after the stress test.

If flu strike here, you worry about your health already, 500 point of 100 points is irrelevant if you are/might be the victim of the flu.
Nothing to happy about it. doh.gif

KLSE trend is a bit weird lately.

It moves on its own, discarding external factor and regional bourses trend, means local fund/goreng syndicate are the one that 'playing' with it.

This is not an untreatable disease.
*
Basically it is a flu virus, human only can fight the virus by own immune system, medicine cannot cure any virus.

It is not severe until now, but the fear is that once it spreads, it can spread to million of people worldwide, just like ordinay flu that we know it is easy to catch one.

It needs to be contained at early stage, if not, nothing can be done already.

Yes, so in relation to the stock market, it is either we take advantage of this scare and buy (at the right price), or wait till we all die from this disease. That's my point.
*
Yup, you can take advantage on it, just like previous SARS virus.

The scare although unlikely it become pandemic, we cannot rule out the chance all together.

Another risk besides the risk of the virus itself, is that it triggers new round of sprillaring downwards economy effect in current weak economy due to weak consumer sentiment, and not willing to spend/travel etc.

Typical human behaviour. whistling.gif

Beyond 1000 points, then probably see lot of uncles aunties flooding the brokers' trading hall again. biggrin.gif

Market sentiment easily can change every hour now. There is no clear trend, and basically most bourses are sideline and stuck in the range, even DJ recent up and down just below 50 points everyday.

already got leak result for stress test...maybe Dow already discount it...
always financial result of bank supporting the DOW from falling down the roof...
*
Fed already send out the result to respective banks on 28 April, which banks can response the object the result.
Final result and publish to public is on 4th May.

But my view, this is more political show instead of having real impact on the economy or market itself.

Ya, a lot of people got this mindset, first KFC, then new Sofa, new fridge, new washing machine, all success. Then appetide become bigger looking for new car, new house time, kabooom, market crash, not getting a new car but lose your existing car. tongue.gif laugh.gif, so does previous KFC, Sofa etc.
