Funny this thread should cum up. A couple of days ago, my boss and his wife saw with their own eyes a goreng pisang seller in Penang adding pieces of plastic into the boiling oil. When confronted, the seller gave some lame excuse that the plastic "fell" into the boil doh.gif

All this while, i though adding plastic to make food crunchy is an urban legend ... now I know it's true. My boss doesn't BS about this sort of things.

Darn it, wondered how many times i've been poisoned by food sellers sweat.gif

its a common among those pisang goreng seller....
this type of act will maintain the crunchiness of the pisang....hahaha (its true)
normally they will use those transparent plastic bag put it into the hot oil....
how to differentiate?
beware of those mostly lightly yellow goreng pisang.....
