A couple of days ago, my boss and his wife saw with their own eyes a goreng pisang seller in Penang adding pieces of plastic into the boiling oil. When confronted, the seller gave some lame excuse that the plastic "fell" into the boil All this while, i though adding plastic to make food crunchy is an urban legend ... now I know it's true. its a common among those pisang goreng seller.... this type of act will maintain the crunchiness of the pisang....hahaha (its true) normally they will use those transparent plastic bag put it into the hot oil.... how to differentiate? beware of those mostly lightly yellow goreng pisang.....
