This is a (Hopefully) a revival of the O2 XDAII Mini Lovers CLUB V3 thread since there's no updtaes in the 1st page

Wiki details: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?p...me=HTC_Magician

1. Windows Mobile 6.1 now possible. Use this site to get the ROM's from Cotulla LATEST ROM: HTCMAG_ROM_WWE_O4

http://www.cotulla.pp.ru/Magician.html

Please follow developer's install instructions (Warning, next version maybe for 128Mb Magician's only)

Fixes for Cotulla's ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493611

All other apps meant for WM6.1 are more then likely to work as long .NET CE required is no newer then v2.01

If you're facing trouble of your PDA shutting down or hanging, try using the batclear to reprogram the battery memory level or change your housing

By right it's recommended that you flash the ROM in XP but if you can't find an XP running com, here's the workaround

2. If you're itching to use Manila 2D (Warning, you're gonna be out of RAM for other apps very quickly): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...326#post3465326

3. If you're a SPB Mobile Shell user, there's a mod for it here: http://www.imarche.net/omnia/index.php

3. Linux based OS is rumoured to be in the works but at the moment it's still in developement stage

4. Useful apps and tit-bits still available from V2 here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/336400

5. Please do not ask if WM6.5 ROM's are out yet, it's still in beta stage and Atom users are having problems loading

6. For ALL ROM flashings, please use XP to perform it. Seems Vista's USB drivers in bootloader incompatible but try PM'ing me for the driver which may or may not work (Haven't tested it)

7. Hack to ensure Active Sync doesn't keep loading up for no reason

hmmm... mini is more common in malaysia bah.y not put mini. i think many dunno bout magician. or mayb it js me...
*
I'm using the general codename of the O2 Mini. HTC at that hadn't sold yet under their brand name actually. If you looked at the subtitle, Magician covered many brands too so I chose not to discriminate

Guys, i'm looking for shop that can repair my o2 mini backup/internal battery. now my o2, whenever i temporary shut off like want to change sim card, it will automatically hard reset. it seems the backup battery is not "backing" up properly.

thanks for any recommendation..
*
Have your tried Subang Square? A few shops there do deal in PDa repair.

i wonder if i can diy changing the lcd touch screen and the housing based on in$ane's housing replacement guide

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=149039&st=3820

lelong price

lcd touch screen - rm 40
housing - rm 40

80 bux project tongue.gif
*
IINM it's not as easy as you think as there's lots of precautions needs to be taken especially regarding the ribbons interconnecting the LCD and the PCB itself. but if you're 100% sure, all the best

BTW: Can you link the lelong page selling at RM40 the housing? been looking for a cheap one in lelong until now

Owh found it, sellers in JB. Nevermind

btw almosthere
whats is your rom version ? I planning to buy it for my young bro and flash it to WM6 rom, is there any issue with bluetooth connectivity ? I mean can u send and receive files as usual ?
*
Currently using the WWE_03 ROM by Cotulla. Haven't really used the Bluetooth since the upgrade but Magician's bluetooth has always been abit tricky but should be ok with this

BTW, anyone here know which shop has the ballz and the right chips to upgrade the Magician to 128Mb RAM?

upgrading RAM quite impossible here, furthermore the cost is very very expensive
*
But it sure would help alot since I'd doubt any of the 128Mb Mini's were ever sold here

PS: Updated 1st post with tutorial on how to upgrade ROM on Vista

btw, I bought (used) o2 mini for my bro and intended for wm6 upgrades.
Performance is better than OMAP, looking good and quite stable.

btw I can do o2 mini housing replacement service,
*
Yup, the new ROM does help alot. I'd suggest getting searcher12 @ XDA-Dev's HTC Comm Manager. Works properly especially for the bluetooth stack

And did the housing swap already. Sure was tricky

i hav not done any rom upgrade since i bot it a few years back tongue.gif

You can use WWE_03. So far works fine for me as long you get the patched Comm Manager from the XDA-Dev forums

and ... the non blink indicator when the screen off seems strange tongue.gif

Try getting the SP1 Patch fixes in the 1st post which contains the MMS program. Use it in parrallel with the HTC Newtowrk wizard to get the right settings

no lah, the OS still windows mobile, it is a cooked rom coz there is no new official rom from O2 for the device..
*
To be exact, there was never (before this) any ROM which had a newer then Windows Mobile 2003. Only recently someone's done the impossible and cooked up a Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM for it.

BTW: I've just updated the 1st post to teach how to disable the Activesync from automatically loading even when you're not synching to your PC

My O2 mini seems to be on the verge of dying.. anyone know of a good software to back up my messages?
*
Use the PIM backup program in searcher12's service packs to back everything up. I do that with mine and works beautifully

so how to change to new OS? the charging port is the usb port? follow the instructions from cotulia?
*
Read the full instructions from Cotulla's website. As a safety precaution flash in WWE_01 ROM 1st before going for the latest available one's since the radio stack needs to be of the correct version.
Make sure the phone's fully charged before flashing and yes, the USB port is the charging point. Remove sim card and mem card before doing this and ensure you flash it on a XP loaded machine.

Added on August 17, 2009, 11:43 pmLatest WM6.1 ROM is out for us Magician owners. But if you're an owner of an I-Mate New JAM / JAM Limited Edition (HTC Magician), lucky sods youse cos there's an R1 ROm which, SURPRISE, has WM6.5 init!!!!

so meaning flashing using WinXp is the best compared to using Vista or Win7 or even Mac Os ?

thx

Added on October 3, 2009, 8:00 am

i noticed tat there are a few "generation of HTC Mag Roms",
which gerenartion is this O2 Mini?

thx
*
The bootloader @ RUUWrapper was designed to work only on WinXP. This is due to the driver dependencies in Vista which are incompatible for the accessing of the Main ROM block itself.

HTC Magician is O2 Mini, iMate JAM, Dopod 818 to name a few. Which is why this thread is called HTC Magician owners thread

thanks

If you want the best WITH camera, Gen 2 WWE is the one for you. But in terms of power management and bugs resolved, Gen 3 WWE is the one to go AFAIK and make sure you get the 2 programs xioajin1985 in the XDA Dev forums developed for the latest ROMS. They're helpful

need help here..

i try to make big storage for my mini at the end i got this

c:\>ntrw read myrom.nb1 H:
usage: ntrw file drive:

i try again n again seems it doesn't work too...
*
big storage methods don't apply anymore nowadays since latest cooked ROMS delimit the storage and main ROM file spacing. How you set what is your storage ROM is by hard limiting the memory management itself

Sorry for not updating but my magician got stolen and using an 838 Pro now. But based on my experience, use XP to flash any ROM as Vista or whatever OS's after that will not allow access to the main ROM to flash

Sorry bro, but D810 comes under the HTC Trinity series. If you need help with that, kindly refer to the wiki

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?p...ame=HTC_Trinity

or the forum sub section for ROMS at XDA-Dev

http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=359

Hope that helps
