Opps... Anyone know where to config the S1 customization screen?

I wish to customize the S1 button on my keyboard.

Thanks for the reply. But it seems that the S1 button dun allow for sleep mode.

VAIO do not have shortcut key or commonly known as function key to perform quick sleep or hibernate mode?

My bad... My bad. It's a sleep mode function! I din observe that.

Previous laptop, or most brand put their sleep mode on either fn+F1 or F2...

My FW with extended battery is over 3.5kg I believe.

U'll get the pain at ur wrist & arm if u carrying it only with pouch.
It's advisable for u to get a proper sling bag, or backpack (if u dun mind the look).

Otherwise, at least a proper pouch/sleeve with handle is a muz!

For myself, I still can't find a pouch/sleeve with a handle for my FW yet, even in the PC fair. All they got is up to 15.4" only.

But viewing movie is superb! With extended battery, I can go unplug for 2hrs during presentation with only 50% batt usage (offline + 30mins DVD playback + VGA out to a projector with monitor dim).

With my spec which scored 5.5 for Wins7, I played Dragon Age without any lag in 1600*900 reso.

But during gameplay, the air vent area is quite hot, I think it's normal when comes to gaming. Normal usage, it's not that hot afterall.

Why my Wins7 alwiz prompt for application force shut down when I shutting off my notebook, even I see there's no application there to be shut??

Can anyone sort me out with this??

Yeah it's cool under normal operating, but it's not when comes to playing the latest game like Dragon Age: Origins.

But only gets hot at the fan output area, the bottom seems ok so far. The palmrest gets a little warm, maybe due to HDD location?

For cooler condition, I wish to find a powerful notebook fan beneath it.

I'm using a FW590 from US, spec almost the same as urs, juz I got upgrade BluRay combo ROM & extended 7200Mah battery, the rest almost the same like urs!

So far so good! Everyone is so envious at my VAIO.

Self usage-wise, everything works juz fine! No noise, no lag, no malfunction, no heat issue.

I can play latest game DragonAge: Origins at highest setting, projected to my 42" tv using HDMI at no prob at all.
It gets heat at the fan area during gaming, but as soon as I end the game & continue for other purpose, the heat gone in a split second. I'm convince it has a very good heat dissipation system!

What do u expect? U're looking for a 3 yrs warranty, so dun back down. Give all out!

When u're talking about the FW series, so many satisfied owner here, u dun have to afraid!

Hmmm.... Juz FYI, FW series is not a gaming, or mobility notebook, they're meant for home entertainment, such as music & video.

But ATI 4650 is doing great with games so far with me now. It's a cool notebook, if u can bear the weight when u carrying (if necessary means).

My current FW590 CTO together with my previous XPS1210M


My HDMI out with 720p to my 42" TV. (1080p will be too small for the whole displayed object)

Some electrical technical question hopefully u can help me with it, can a 2 pin power cord (2.5A 250V) support my VAIO if the original cord is stated 7A 125V 875W. It's connected to my adaptor, which stated input of 100V-240V ~1.5A?

Will it cause any damage to my hardware if using it? Or make no difference where both oso supported?

juz max out whatever warranty period u could get then.

some up to 6 yrs warranty/insurance.

Dun juz listen from them verbally. Muz have a proper policy or black & white from them.
Read them line by line & make sure what they told u rili stated there.

But since u already bought them, so I think what u can do is to make sure it's really stated there.

BTW... SEC, SenQ oso doing this. It's more like a general insurance scheme.

Those who got this prob, is they upgrade the Wins7 manually themself, I think.

Most expensive FW series in M'sia at this moment.

All specs above mine, same spec for HD4650 (but mine is 512Mb only), 1 level ahead of BluRay rom (mine allow read only), my HDD is 7200 rpm though from the US soec.

Cool gadget u have! Do u face force shut down issue every time u shut down the PC?

So urs is FW56?? I think RM500 worth the value... +2Gb (4Gb single slot not cheap), + BluRay burner.

Hmm.. I got this prob since I got the unit. I wonder why it happens.

Oh ya, 1 thing I got in advantage is, mine is extended battery 7200mAh. But gosh, it's 0.5kg in weight!

No doubt the built quality is superb. But Windows is still Windows, can't compare an orange with an apple... =)

I like my FW too overally.

FW55 is cool enough, from my personal advise.

1) Since u got ur very own BluRay player.
2) Even u already owned a BluRay player, it only makes huge difference when u play HD movie. And most of them are genuine copies- costly.
3) To watch HD movie, we can opt for download content, and later play with our notebook, and projected to tv using HDMI cable, like me.
4) I dun own any BluRay disc movies at this very moment at all. Too expensive~

Getting FW55 can save u RM1.5k! Minus no Ultimate Wins7, not the coolest processor (but still cool), -2Gb RAM... The rest doesn't matters.

For me, I'd go for FW55 if I were in ur shoes.

Apple is way too perfectionist! I dun understand how they could be so unique, and 1 step ahead of other branding. Design, operating... Very cool of it.

They're very innovative, alwiz appear in surprise!

Not to mention, their finished goods' QC is very good too.


Consider this, how can their MacBook running at such a low temperature where there's not a single air vent and fan in the unit??? (or there is one that I dunno?). Their MacBook is air tight from every surface I can observe.

Anyhow, other branding is differ from Apple, can't compare.

According to my fren who work in home entertainment division in SONY, Samsung is their main annoying competitor. Since both marketing scope are identical... Home system, computing, communication...

Whenever SONY come out something new, SAMSUNG able to come out too, at with a much lower price even.
Hahaah! Guess SONY need to think of some way to dispose of their competitor

For slim notebook, I prefer Asus UXseries.

Too bad they dun bring in here.

I think it's available within the 6 month since the purchase. But they'll have some kind of assessment to ur laptop, that cost is bear by the customer. This is what applies in the US.
Think M'sia should have too. Better still, call them.
