Hello, just to share with you guys, my very 1st humble set up that I can afford currently laugh.gif . In fact nothing much I could do with this rented property as well, hopefully surrounding flat neighbour and landlord wont knock my door and complain and that will be great enough thumbup.gif

What speakers are those? Looks like a new and neat room! Any idea why you pit the speakers on the left side of the room leaving a few feet of space on the right? Also why is the center speaker on the floor?

Oh Thank you! You would nt believe they are 8 yrs old - 10 yrs old B&W 602 S3 & 601 S3! I was stunned when I found out those models are so old because they are so new when I bought it! Centre is Mordaunt short 905. I have to keep them to the left as I need to keep some space for some path, access to dining table ( behind the camera view) .

hey guys. sorry to bother but are there any decent amplifiers at a price below rm700? bought a hdtv but no omph in sound if u know what i mean. sigh... sorry for my tight budget.

p.s occupation student and part timer.
*
No worries bro! nothing to feel sorry on tight budget ! You are absolutely fine to ask a question here.

From my point of view, you should be able to get an amp at around that price, maybe a little bit more on top, but bear in mind, that is just to buy an amp, you will need some budget to buy speakers, cables etc.. It depends on how you want your set up really.

If you can specify some details in terms of what sort of system would you like to have (stereo, 5.1 / 7.1 etc) , maybe some sifu would be able to give you some suggestions .

Cheers pal.

I see you moved your setup over to the long wall of the room.

Question about your rear speakers - wouldn't it be better to have them at 90 deg facing the seats directly? Currently they are firing into the middle of the room.
*
Yeah and that makes the TV bigger ! laugh.gif

I'm not sure but I will definitely give it a go when I am free, have been busy with study and stuff not much time to play around with it sad.gif Thanks for the suggestion ! thumbup.gif

laugh.gif guess what, the misses like it! She asked for the arm chairs (previously was a 2 seater sofa which was not comfy she complained), and if you could notice, the 2 arm chairs are not at the same height, the lower ones belong to the misses just to fit her height and she says thumbup.gif

Or..

U can get a monoblock or pwr amp n then pwr de 2nd ctr channel thru/wif tis..
Sum wanna lock de dialog on to their big scrn n put one spkr on top of scrn n de other at d bottom..
But personally, I have tried n it dont really make much diff.. I mean if u wan louder , then jus add de gain thru de avr..
To me.. a better spkr would make more sense n difference..

Thanks. I am using the HTM7 which has 1 driver only , sound quality is great in small room. I was just wondering if gear up the centre channel by adding 2nd centre speaker will be anything like those giant centre speaker which has 3 - 4 drivers in it. laugh.gif

Well..

I only have basic spkrs .. maybe if u add de same range type wif wat u are having now.. it  would make a lot of difference..
Thru my experience wif several ctr spkrs [ again, mostly budget.. ] I now end up wif a close-to-same-range-as my-mains floorstander as a ctr n its a little better than de standard d'apollitto ctr = actually tis shines when playin music  . I guess when they say  musical spkrs make great HT spkrs but not necesarrily the other way around knows wat he is talking about..

I will probably leave it as it is for this moment, more assignments and exams are coming up after Christmas break doh.gif

Also let the pocket to have some breathing space laugh.gif

Added on December 9, 2011, 10:08 amOne more question, can LX 82 drive Dali speakers (4 ohm) safely without risking the amp or speakers?

I did some reading on the internet but still not got a clue on them rclxub.gif Some suggested receivers with THX select or Ultra certified can drive 4 ohm speakers but some seems to object the idea.. rclxub.gif Would like some advice if anyone of you dont mind sharing your thought thumbup.gif

Guys, would using B&W 705 as surround be a waste? I saw many use them for stereo set up with quite good amp but I saw 1 pair on sale at reasonably cheap price hand start to itchy already laugh.gif

I dont know how much better it would do compare the my current old B&W 602 S3 as surround, but it would be lovely looking to have the whole family sat in the living room laugh.gif

I have heard about land beyond 4 ft below ground level is no longer belong to house owner, is that true? if yes you might want to dig half basement only biggrin.gif also there might be piping works below the ground, it's probably worth to get the plan drawings just to confirm you wont be digging towards any main pipes laugh.gif
