newbie, i wanna ask that i planned to have p1 wimax. Then, i looked for coverage area and realized thare are fewnfactors that

1.my house located almost the side of green coverage area, but still consider as area covered what i saw from google map. (too risky, scare that signal drop)

2.nearby are home living area, most of houses belong to single story trrace house, but mine is Double, (Will this become signal advantage to me if i put wimax modem upstair?)

3. Dx-230 modem are used instead of DS-300. Any differences, better performance in term of signals?

Because of tmnut's international link capping, i planned to terminate it, and get p1 instead. can anyone share ur ideas?

1. It would be better if you can check using your friend that is using P1.

2. The last time i use at that place, the signal is not very good compared if you are using in the apartment. The signal may be green, but it does not mean that the speed would be good.

3. I am an old user seeking to leave P1 once the contract expires, so i don't know much about that.

Between, can you explain more about the TM net international link capping?

IF they throttle (or even block) p2p traffic, it is still acceptable to me. But now their capping sucks, they capped my speed within 50kb/s. It affects my HTTP download speed especially in File Hosting website (rapidshare or megaupload) and others like youtube (very important to me). For a normal web surfing, almost need to wait for few seconds longer compared to previous... They capped the speed into half of boardband package that user applied. E.g 1mbps into 500kbps =50kB/s~, 512kbps into 256kbps. This is just my comment only. For more details, u can go into streamyx international link capping discussion - Here

Try to avoid using 2 P1 modem in 1 room. It will affect your signal.

If you are a heavy downloader, you might want to consider about the P1 since streamyx have the international link capping quota if you only are the only 1 in the room using it.

You can download from hotfile, just the issue is the data quota only.

I think anything you better refer the T&C form before signing it. You never know about it. If the T&C stated, it is solid.

About the package, I am not sure for the Wiggy.

anyone from SP, Serdang (UPM) n Johor Bahru (Near larkin) area, mind if i know ur review about the connection?

Download rate (Using IDM o other ddl software)= ? kb/s
Disconnect frequency = ? times per day
If exceed the quota, what wil the speed be? (half of the subscribed 1)
How is ur connection after three months usage?

I need all this info because i have seen many bad feedback form the customers and i am in a dilemma 2 subscribe.

For those who said that p1 cannot even access a simple website, do ur placegt coverage or u hav exceed the quota o whatver reasons, mind telling me?

Thanks

Sometime P1 is very troublesome when it cannot surf the internet. For my old modem, if restart 2 times without signs of improvements means the service have problem.

If the service is good, usually can achieve the promised speed without any download manager.

In your case, you can try out the performance with your friend's P1 before subscribing yourself.

ipodasia, my experience with P1 was horrible. Just...horrrible.

I signed up with them so my girlfriend could play Farmville, but the signal was so lousy that she couldn't even do that. Imagine - you can't even load Facebook?

And it definitely was well within the coverage area (Kota Damansara). There was a P1 rep at the Old Town White Coffee next door promoting the service every day.

I had to call and complain to them every month, and they kept promising to waive the monthly charges every time they confirmed that we were getting crap bandwidth, but the waivers never appeared and I kept getting charged for ZERO service availability from P1.

Wish they'd spend more money upgrading their infrastructure and less on all their marketing campaigns.

After the SK Telecom come and invest in P1, their marketing campaigns reduce significantly.

Right now, despite the improvement in their service, i have to say my parents have been pressuring me to quit P1 once my contract finishes.

Reduced significantly? Have you not seen the multi-(full)-page advertisements in the papers lately? Those aren't cheap.

All I can say is that P1 depends on area.

If you are unfortunate to stay in area which is in cell edge coverage, then better don't subscribe.

Another issue is if you are served by the station that has a lot of heavy downloaders, your speed will suck too.

There is no good/ no good answer when it comes to mobile broadband. You just have to give it a try.

Some people tend to generalize the service in all area based on personal experience in one area, it could be true for fixed broadband but not on mobile broadband.

I do not think you can do that. They need you to fill in your enterprise details when signing up. You can try to ask anyway...
