I kinda disappointed with the proton exora.. The campro cps 1.6 already not enough power for proton waja and now it put in into the exora. What if the exora have more that 4 adult passenger? Another thing is, the engine mount exactly same like the proton saga BLM. I get shocked when I jack up the car at my SC centre during the inspection a test drive unit. The best thing for exora is the interior. If you wanna get a cheap mpv, get chery eastar mpv. It more worth and it 2.4 mitsubishi engine with mitsubishi gearbox.

Maybe because its targeted for family. My uncle with an Avanza also seldom carry 7 people, usually just 3. Except when 'balik kampung' once or twice a year. hmm.gif

i remember when i was back from KLIA, i was in a limo, a waja cps.. when reach around MEX highway, i told him.. "encik, saya tak kejar masa, boleh jalan slow sikit"... it was a manual cps.. there was 3 persons in the car with 4 big luggage... i see no lagging from the way he drive the car.. was so powerful compare with my fren normal waja (old version, not campro version)...

btw, i saw exora last night.. it's indeed very big and nice interior... i never test drive it so no comment on the performance, but since it's that big, probably its fuel consumption will be bad.. but what to expect? it's quite reasonably priced.. u want cheap, good perfomance, low fc, big in size, good quality... susahla...

In long journey, the campro will satisfied you as the campro cps connection rod is long. It give more better top speed.. But if you wan to get pick up, then the campro cps will disappointed you.. Of course it will better than a old campro version. It really not really gave enough power for that waja.. Furthermore, that engine now used on a bigger size vehicle.. So end up, high FC with low power.

I drive a sentra 1.6, latio 1.8, honda civic fd 2.0, and saga 1.3. I not aspect how much for the waja cps.. But if compare with my sentra N16 1.6 auto, my sentra give much more power in term of pick up and also top speed. If I aspect more for 1.6, I already use SR16 and compare with campro cps... I drove a waja cps more than 100++ units and I try during testing the ride for climbing hill and also pick up.. That why I dare to give this comment. I not those fella who only know how to talk without studying or driving that car. I dare to give comment based on my experience and also my working experience in proton.

campro cps can only produce 150nm at 4.5k rpm only..what to expect...

just hoping the next version would have 2.0 / 1.8 engine from petronas or renault ..

primary problem for engine sourced from renault would be always the spareparts, just look at old waja 1.8x using Renault Laguna 1.8 and Savvy.

unless proton try obtain a license for local manufacturers to produce those parts locally to lower the cost.

Tested the M Line Exora in Mutiara Danansara with 2 adult passengers and 3 kids.

Seating and driving position is better than Saga BLM though the front portion is longer and the edge of the headlight could not be seen from the driver's seat. Interior space for the driver and front passenger is good.

Power delivery is adequate and once you keep up with the momentum the legal cruising speed could be reached easily. I would rate the acceleration better than saga BLM as the power to weight ratio is better.

At slow speed, it may struggle a bit on hill climbing route especially in town . Nonetheless the engine is responsive and could easily rev up to 5000 rpm.

The steering is plasticky( just like the Saga BLM) and despite its length and size, the mpv is easily manoueverable.

The suspension was not truly tested as the test route has good roads.

Below is a brief assessment on my short drive.

Pros

Contemporary exterior design
Good driving position/manoueverability
Interior space with third row seats for adults
Dual blower air conditioner with individual vents
ABS and EBD features
Insulated cabin
Price

Cons

1.6 CPS engine is just adequate
Interior plastic is a rung below the Koreans and the Japanese
Seats and fabric needs to be improved with thicker padding and quality
Dashboard design and the multi media player buttons are too small for the driver to operate.
Interior fittings and design looks ordinary

A quote by a third party on boyy2k video in youtube by funtasticko5"

"i dont agree, just test drive exora uphill and flat road, with 3 people, average 250 kg, the driver itself weigh 115 kg. the exora fuel is full, front and rear aircond full blast, the cps really shines, manage to test until 120kmh at third gear 5000 rpm, but the road too short to test it top speed. will upload the video soon. based on this video, it seems the driver is not familiar in driving auto tranny car,"

The Exora automatic gear will kick down one gear if you press the accelerator hard. If you press gradually,it wont kick down hence you will find the car to be sluggish especially with full load.

From the video boyy2k engaged the "L"gear and the speed was limited to 50km/h despte revving at 6000rpm. He should have changed to gear 3 to gain more speed.

If you're still grumbling the exora hasn't enough torque why don't you all just wait for the LPT version of the S4PH?
