You need to do a restore to factory default setting to get it to work again. The problem will return if you change the screensaver.

Do you have PIN request turned ON? If not, turn it on and then restart the phone.
When it ask for PIN, wait 15-30 sec before entering it. Do not do it immediately.

The*#06# & *#0000# information will show after this. The phone seems to need the extra wait before the info will show. When you reboot without the PIN request there is no wait period and most of the time the info will not show.

maybe you can try to disable the wlan app in the home screen. I'm using E66 and I have it disabled as I found out via Nokia energy profiler that there would be an energy spike every minute or so even after you switch off wlan scanning. ie you first scan for wlan, use it to surf etc, close wlan connection and then turn off scanning.

I'm low usage user and my phone can last 2 days no problems. E66 & E71 are similar phones and with the larger battery capacity (1.5x) should be able to last 3.5 days theoretically on low usage.
