QUOTE(seale_navy @ Jul 31 2009, 10:32 AM)
Haha yes... buy phone have to do research. I never spent rm1200 phone before. last time I used motorola mpx200 i bought it around rm700 serve his purpose. everyone is like asking, " eh how u go online on msn via mobile" those days were like proud as not many phone are able to do so. I saw fring on the iphone, I didnt know, symbian s60 have that too. That is good. I just finish reading the entire thread so know a little here and there.

so for the msn, what do u mean by logging in nokia website from my phone? u mean go to the s60 browser and look for the download at nokia website? I tried looking on the nokia site using my pc, I cant find it. Nokia website states to download them, you need to refresh the download folder.. hmm.gif

So, by refreshing the download folder, will the windows live folder appear for download?

2nd question, which one consume more data usage, fring or msn messenger? I intend to use msn only as I dont have anyone on others such as yahoo and etc..

BY the way, if I buy the original one, will I get like 2 dictionary in there, chinese one and english one? I saw some post in this thread with regards to that, but I see no confirmation of that  having done reading the thread.

Thanks xavi for helping out here. Also u posted previously that u have a theme from this person. http://www.e71fanatics.com/2009/06/e71-the...ven-brings.html . I see that its not free, so im wondering whether u paid for it?

Sorry if my question is a bit shortcoming. again, I am asking all this without having the e71 hehe...
*
ok here the download site for msn-->window live
regarding data usage.. i m not sure.. but i dont think there is any differences as if u choose fring, u can choose to log in to msn only.. like me i use ebuddy, i log in to msn only..
regarding the dictionary: i m not sure.. as i m not on asian firmware.. i m on brasil firmware.. so i dont hav the chinese dictionary.. but i heard it is pretty much useless.. most of the time u will be using the default english 1.. which also allow u to install chinese, and indonesian

regarding the theme.. i don use tat theme.. most of my theme is from pizaro and bab1..

greenland i installed before like it very much. but then did you realise at the top right corner beside the battery bar, the helix looking line don't match? hehehe

since i'm an OCD freak, i uninstalled it. Currently I'm using Enterprise One by Tehkseven and Silver from PiZero.

p/s: i prefer default icon themes as i find the Ovi style icon's does not suit the Enterprise/Elegant looking E71. Ovi style icon's look abit comic cum fun. better suited in those Music Xpress edition Nokia phones. just my 2 cents tongue.gif
*
ya the helix does look annoying..
well another 1 here dont noe ur taste though.. i prefer custom icon

hi everyone...
im E71 white steel user, been using it since January this year...
my firmware 100.07.76 lol...
the thing i like the most about e71 is the battery life... i charge it every 4-5 days.. longest battery life i achieve is 6 days..
Everyday 10-20 sms, 15-30 mins phone calls, seldom play with wi fi and gps.
i would like to know more what else i can play around with my phone.
*
if u r not playing with wifi.. i m guessing u not playing with edge or 3g as well.. so not much u can play .. java games, sisx games, camera shooting, pretty much it.. read novel or comic lor..

rclxm9.gif Hello to all bros in LY forum, i just bought myself a Grey Steel E71, wanted a Black E71 but due to no stock and can't wait as my HP RW6828 is faulty....so get the grey one. mine is a AP set, blink.gif after reading the E71 thread, become abit regret as here got bros sell ori with good price.

So far i think E71 is cool and have almost everything that a phone user needs (Except track ball and touch screen), i'm still NEW and yet to explore the potential of E71. So hope that bros here can help out some of my curious.

1) Battery life : I checked feedback on net..some last 2-4days, but mine is only 1 DAY (No Wlan, No bluetooth and with switched to only GSM, and 5 min on phone, 15 min play song, 5 text msg) that's all i got from my E71... vmad.gif worst then my HP RW6828 that has a faulty battery (atleast my HP i get to ON bluetooth for whole day) Any1 experience this and norm how many days the E71 last u?

2) I use a AP set, so i found out after i go nokia to update my firmware, it's Euro firmware which don't have Chi and cannot read chinese. So i can stand those "squares" when i receive chi msg or play chi mp3, i have to go back and ask them to reinstall for me, and they installed V210.21.006.

I saw this V3 thread got V300 firmware...but anyone have it? can help me on geting V210.21.006 and V300? But i need the asia version which is (Eng, Malay, Indo & Chi) language..

I really appreciate bros that can help a newbie here and  notworthy.gif to those that keep this forum up thumbup.gif
*
Eh.. Tat really bad.. Did the shop install garmin for u? Check wat version is it.. Ap set is a risk sometimes.. Although me myself using an ap set as well.. But urs is damn low life lor 1 day with only such little usage.. Wat is urs current firmware. .. Later when i m on my laptop i will pm u the way where u can c chinese word with ur europe firmware.. i wanna ask is ur keypad jam pack with symbol? If yes u r RM-407 like me.. I retain europe firmware due to the fact if i use asian firmware ..all my keypad mapping is gone.. But mine able to read chinese thRough some twiking..

honestly, if the phone can last me 1 day plus i'm happy already.

put it this way, issit really that important that your phone can last 3-4 days? what do you get out of it? to be honest, i feel it's just bragging rights.

as long as my phone can last me 1 full day, then i'm fine with it. charge it when i go to sleep, and good to go for another full day.

how much does a battery cost? RM1xx? lets say if it can last you 1 year before you need to change. that'll be like rm10 a month.

for all you know, you might even be changing your phone before the battery really dies on you.

so what's the big fuss about battery life not lasting for 4-5 days?
*
reply of the day thumbup.gif thumbup.gif
thumbup.gif the most important thing is tat the phone get things done.. like now.. i jus rely on my e71 as my laptop jus got stolen.. lucky some of the important data of mine is in my phone.. guess hav to work from phone now..

QUOTE(red-queen @ Aug 6 2009, 11:21 PM)
while i was free last night messing around with my phone before i went to bed. i found that tsrautostart.exe is running in my background via jbak taskman. so i killed it, charge my phone and went to bed.

unplug my phone charger and went to work at 10am this morning. use my phone like i usually do. now its 11.19pm, and my battery only dropped 1 bar. usually by this time of the day, my battery level is at least 50% used up.

so to those who think your battery is not lasting long enough, try checking if you have the garmin's tsrautostart.exe running on your background.

anyways, if you're really really concern with your battery consumption. just go download nokia's energy profiler and see what is the average consumption. from what i read on the net, on average it's about 0.05w - 0.07w. with tsrautostart.exe the average consumption is around 0.14w. this is double the usage already.

just install the energy profiler to see whats your average consumption. from there then you'll at least be able to find out what is causing the high energy consumption.

Added on August 7, 2009, 12:34 amok, so i downloaded Nokia Energy Profiler and did a few test to verify the actual power consumption and how long can the battery last.

Test 1:
To test what is the average power consumption WITHOUT tsrautostart.exe at background while phone is on standby.

Average Power consumption = 0.05w
Time before battery runs flat = 110 hours (while 1 bar down)

Test 2:
To test what is the average power consumption WITH tsrautostart.exe at background while phone is on standby.

Average Power consumption = 0.13w
Time before battery runs flat = 48 hours (while 1 bar down)
Conclusion:-
Due to the fact that my battery is not at 100%, so lets say if i were to add in another 12 hours to the results. that would mean 60 hours of standby time with tsrautostart.exe running and 122 hours of standby time without tsrautostart.exe running.

with backlight on, the power consumption can go as high as 0.35w. since we have to use our phone for calls, sms's, emails, etc. so lets deduct another 14 hours from the standby hours.

End result would be:
with tsrautostart.exe = +- 46 hours (2 days)
without tsrautostart.exe = +- 108 hours (4 days)
*
Wat version of garmin r u currently using? Version 5.03 and above can disable from garmin it self lor.. My phone dont hav tsrautostart.exe running.. But i still get 1day and half.. Under very heavy usage tat is... On edge whole day long.. Using it as a modem.. For a good 1 to 2 hour daily... Muahaha.. 4 hour and half till battery flat if continuos using as modem..

anyways i think battery can last upto 5000++ chargings, so i think can still last better compared to overnight charging..i hope tongue.gif
*
1k charge cycle nia la.. 5k charge cycle .. Ur battery already kong liao.. Well the nokia energy profiler is good i check both of my battery .. 1 is the 1 tat come with my ap set at 1439 mAh while another ori zitron de at 1548 mAh..so to those who suspect their battery is faulty is better to giv the software a try to check out ur battery..

QUOTE(red-queen @ Aug 7 2009, 09:31 AM)
the disable function on garmin is just to stop the process from automatically starting by itself. it's the same as deleting the cardrunner file as earlier versions of garmin 5 does not have the disable function. doing this 2 steps only prevents tsrautostart.exe from automatically starting. but it does not prevent tsrautostart.exe from starting every time you use your garmin.

i've disabled the background process in garmin, i've deleted the cardrunner. whenever i start garmin, the tsrautostart.exe starts up as well. so when i finish using garmin, i'll have to use jbak taskman to kill the tsrautostart.exe
*
Funny though.. I check my e71 while running garmin.. And yes the tsrautostart.exe pop up.. But after i close the garmin so did the tsrautostart.exe... Was wondering again.. If i kill tis process will i still able to do searching for location??

it can only turn it off from autostarting when garmin is not in use, but it will not pevent it from starting when you are using garmin.

i'm using garmin 5.4, and each time i start garmin, tsrautostart.exe starts up as well.

Added on August 8, 2009, 1:33 am

this is weird, mine doesn't stop even when i close garmin. i have to manually kill the process after using garmin.
*
funny ler.. Mine also version 5.04 lor.. But the tsrautostart.exe is off after i close garmin lor.. Maybe u should reinstall urs.. Anyway i never delete any card runner thinggy as it is no use as u already hav the option the disable the background service from inside..

Hi, bros in the forum.

I've encounter a problem which i'm not sure it's a glitch of the software or wht..maybe some of E71 users encounter before

it's about the "contact", I've save a contact number and name. (forgot it's using PC suite ctc or i direct use the phone to save)

The problem is : The contact person called me, but my display don't show the contact person "name", it shows the "number" only.

It should show the "name" if i've saved in the phonebook right?

Additional - points for E71 flexibility is the photne book cannot "permanently" choose sim contact, need to go "option" to manual choose "sim directory". Even in the top view, i can only choose "phone" or MSN contact..no "sim ctc" option  doh.gif
*
Name doesn show is due to double entry.. Check ur list whether u got a copy in ur phone or sim..
Tis phone dont hav permenant sim contact? Got ma.. Jus press option at contact and choose sim contact lor... Wat the point storing in sim card when ur phone has unlimited entries.. Jus copy all to ur phone memory la... And back up using excel or nokia pc suite...

hey all,

i don't know why when i restart my phone with jbak taskman, or switch off the phone and turn it back on. the phone couldn't detect the applications that has been installed in my micro sd card. the phone can't detect the micro sd card as well.

i have to manually remove the micro sd card, and then insert the card back in before the phone detects the micro sd card, and all the software inside.

could it be that the memory card has been corrupted? i don't know if formatting the memory card will help?
*
Last time i have tis problem as well.. Try reformat ur card.. Check if u got any file with a name qf . If hav jus delete it.. If u got game .. if able install all of them in phone memory.. last time i got 50 games in d card.. When restart, my phone always said installing bla bla bla.. So i read in e71 fanatic.. They recomend to install it in the phone memory.. Not sure y though.. i only install theme and games in phone memory while the other software all installed in card.. Have no problem so far.. Well java games and sisx games dont take much space.. Although our e71 jus has 110mb of memory.. The theme though take quite some space.. I only install the theme i needed .. Still got 67mb of space left.. Good enough for email, sms, image, etc...
