wanna ask something regarding the Myvi ABS
the scenario is like this

car in front of me brake suddenly coz a motor "tumpang" in front
and I did a super emergency brake (press the brake pedal to max I guess) , then heard some of "chunk" "chunk" sound from the font wheel/brake pedal while braking

Tat time I was driving like 60 KM/h, is that ABS or got something wrong with the braking ??

ABS is supposed to do a grrrrrrrrrrrk sound + vibrating pedal.
U can test it urself on an empty road.

Chunk chunk sounds normally caused by ur stuff shifting in the car/boot due to hard braking?

That is ABS kicking in lol... ABS was never a smooth stop, many tend to think that way. It will force brake hence the 'weird' sounds and vibration. No worries, it is all normal.

My SXi also happen, my one grrrrrrrrrrrk sound + vibrating pedal, not the chunk chunk sound. i replace new brake disc, caliper & pad with warranty from SC. problem came back after few months, i guess its normal for myvi.

ya, heard the SC said that there is a batch that got such problem. ABS has obvious chunk sound, usually twice. or u could try testing out ur ABS on open field. Just apply brake hardly while on average speed.

I just told them there is sound "grrrrkkkkk" coming out from my front brake when emergency brake. Happen few times, there is once i almost hit car in front of me, just few inches save me. Then they run inspections, the SA then told my brake got problem, so they replace brake set under warranty replacement.

Like i said the problem come back after few months. rather than hard braking, now i'm getting to use engine brake(drop gear) and NO tailgating anymore.

FYI: you must have good service record with perodua for you to claim under warranty.

frm what i see...i dont think so its abs...as for abs, u need to press the brake pedal firmly without releasing (while turning ur steering wheel to avoid obstacle) until ur car fully stop.....but for u, u released the brakes for 2secs where the abs will not work in fully order...
it might be brake pads generating the greekk greekk noise..or some other items in ur car... flex.gif

On the safe side just give it a check then. Braking system is important.

i tried e-brake at car park basement, as we know the surface are very slippy and around 15km/h speed only
i think that the sound if no mistaken, i know the steering will vibrate bcos the ABS lock & unlock repeatbly...

otherwise u do a testing at car park basement rather than rough road surface...
at least lesser harm for ur car as well... smile.gif

i do think that the disc is damaged.the disc is not in its normal condition anymore.

anyone ever experience changing the disc after that chunk chunk sound.if the disc isnt normal.when the disc is circling,it got stuck on the disc pad on certain side of the disc.

THat would not be in chunk chunk sound if the disc is stuck. You will have a continous screaming sound or ur car would jerk while u are driving it. But bear in mind ABS onli activates on hard bracking. and it will have chunk sound with some heavy vibration on the pedals. Those that does not have such criteria is most probably not the ABS. Braking system is essential, get it checked soon!
