Guys...
I've updated my 360's codec, and test (while connected to Live, that is) to play a short avi clip, and it work wonders. (in case you are wondering, it's the short clip of which the Red Faction's team is making the Ostrich-hammer-April-Fool-Joke).
Later, got home and tried to play a long movie (in an .avi format, that is), the system says that it is an unsupport format. It didn't give out any error codes or anything, it just say that it is an unsupported format.
what gives? did i do something wrong?

What codec is the AVI encoded with? Generally as long as its encoded with divx or xvid it should be fine.

Also note that the xbox 360 can only play the latest version of Divd/Xvid files.
Older versions won't be recognised by xbox.

try using tversity. if you have a pc, then install TVERSITY to it, then set the media 'folders that you'd like to share' with your whole network
(provided that your xbox 360 is connected to the same network as your pc)
and then all formats can be streamed to your xbox 360....no codecs (MS doesnt have codecs i think).
and furthermore the software is FREE, USER FRIENDLY and LEGAL....
