try this
1. Go to Start --〉 Run 2. Type in regsvr32 Softpub.dll then click ok 3. Go to Start --〉 Run, this time type in regsvr32 Mssip32.dll and click ok 4. Go to Start --〉 Run, this time type in regsvr32 Initpki.dll and click ok (you have to wait longer for this command - i think about 35 seconds) |

Okay some nasty spyware tend to add some unwanted stuff in ur host file.
Open it with notepad and make sure inside looks like this. QUOTE # Copyright © 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp. Anyway, what messenger version are you using?# # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. # # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one # space. # # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol. # # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host ::1 localhost I had the hang thingy last time and i found out that i was using an older version. Just upgrade urs to the latest one. Make sure you install it through the WLM Installer. Dont try to find the standalone installer cause it doesnt have the complete files required for the messenger. |

your host file is infected. Make sure you try to clean it first.
