plug in your iPhone via the provided USB cable.

on the iTunes, locate your the tiny, black iPhone icon on the left.

double click it and rename it accordingly.

can i back up my contacts with microsoft outlook with itunes vesion 9?

Anybody knows how I can copy back all of my mp3 from my iphone to itunes. Before I only drag and drop mp3s from my windows explorer to itunes. I do not use the sync function for my music collection. I do not have any backup of the mp3s on my pc because after I've done the cdrip and transfer my music to my iphone I delete all copies. I hate to have to do cdrip on all my cd collection all over again. It is near 4GB, maybe more.

The reason I need to do this is I need to transfer my music from my old iphone 3G to my new iphone 3GS. Any suggestion appreciated.

If you still haf the i3G Y don't U just sync it with iTunes - otherwise Ur going to need some software and that's going to cost U some $

I am afraid if I sync, I will loose all the mp3s like last time. That is why I use the drag and drop method. This is because I do not save my music in my laptop (limited hard disk space).

Are there any freeware softwares to do this. I just need to copy the music files one time so I don't think I want to buy the software.

Cdripping takes time and effort which I hate to do again. I've done it 2 times already. Itunes graciously remove all my music from iphone after I delete the music files from my laptop hdd so I had to rip again.

oK I get ur problem - don't do the sync because when U do the sync Ur gonna lose ALL your mp3's as the sync will sync from PC to iPhone.

Try Synergy - i think there's a time limit demo so should be suffice for U to transfer stuff - and next time, just sync lah - what's the problem?

My cd collection is huge, and I store full albums on my iphone that is why I need the 32GB phone

4GB is not what I consider big , plus it's only the initial sync that'll take a long time - subsequently it'll be fine; plus at least U don't haf to worry about losing all those data *smile*

I tried searching for Synergy but found out that it only supports Mac, no Windows machine support.

A one promising software to access file manager for iphone without jail breaking is http://i-funbox.com/ I can access all my photos and the mp3s but the music are not in the format that I want. There are all scattered in coded directory and filenames so I am glad to report that I just sync and itunes delete all my musics, so back to square 1. Here I go again ripping my cds

Oh yeah, and I am happy to report that my music collection was 12GB++ and not 4GB as mention earlier, which is just roughly half of my cd collection. I only rip to VBR and not apple lossless format becuase of the limited 16GB space.

Anyways thanks again for trying to help. My next question is, if I buy a network drive or a usb external hard disk for that matter, can I store my music in the hard drive and setup itunes to sync to music from over there. But that would mean that I have to connect the drive everytime I sync right?

gyver, yes. U can. Just drag all ur MP3 from external/usb into the iTunes library and it will sync from ur external/usb.

store mine in pendrive.

*SiGh* If U haf the 12GB file somewhere you shouldn't need to be re-ripping your collection again. And, U don't want to know my total MP3 collection - i'll be screwed if i lost them - but what's important is the ones on iTunes

Next time U should look up a friend who's got Mac - that way can do the transfer for U. Anyhow, guess what's done is done.

PS: Total collection is 35.77GB

Nope... I checked the actual size of music as registered on itunes on the old iphone 3G before I delete all of them. I don't have backup copies anywhere. It's ok... I'll just to do the ripping... 3 cds down... hundreds more down the road.... hehehe...

I have similar issue with gyver, my PC crashed day before yesterday. Bought a new PC, but now i want to transfer my Songs from Iphone back to Itunes.

I have tried sharepod, it works but my mandarin song title and album name has been transform into unrecognized symbol (For eg: ?????)..

is there anyway to get back the correct name and title as i normally have previously when i sync with Itunes from my old PC

I have a huge collection of songs....it will be tough going through renaming each and every tracks..

Hello,

I only noticed recently that my MMS button (the small camera button beside the sms text input field) is missing. I am using SBsettings with fakeapn and bitesms.

Anyway, i checked my settings/general/network/cellular data network and only the settings for cellular data are filled in, the MMS settings are blank. Is this normal?

well, normally if you're looking to have MMS to work, the MMS settings must be available.

I think i screwed my iPh3G up big time. I hand itchy go update to 3.1.2, and blackrain doesnt work so i do a full reset... and now i am left with a

De-Activated iPhone 3G with 3.1.2.

any way of salvation to this? thanks all in advance

is your iphone officially unlock or its software unlock?

nvm... I changed PC to run blackra1n and it miraculously solved every mistakes i did (including hardresetting the phone after upgrading to 3.1.2). its a US set. software
