My favourite childhood bedtime storybook was this big pictorial book called The Odyssey. It started my anything-mythology craze since then until now. I still have the book in my book. There's several books fron my childhood that I still keep. The pictures are very beautifully drawn and detailed. I loved it to death.
Loved it the most when my dad read the part where Odysseus tricked Cyclops into drinking the wine...
*thumbs up to Greek mythology*

QUOTE(icyfawkes @ Apr 22 2009, 07:57 PM) fuwah...so early get to read those stuff!!! lucky guy i only manage to get those stuff at high school...live greek and egyptian mythology...was always fascinated by em I'm not a guy la. Girls can like fantasy stuff also ya. Anyway as mentioned, it was a pictorial book. The pages are filled with oil painting-esque drawings with words. The size of the book is like a folder's size. My mom saved some of the marketing money to buy it for me. I like it so much that everytime I walk into Big Book Shop (at Petaling Street before it close down) and spent the longest time oogling and drooling at the book. Took me a long time trying to learn how to pronounce Odysseus back then

QUOTE(icyfawkes @ Apr 22 2009, 09:28 PM) oops...sry well its rare that i would find someone that actually share the same interest as me hahaha...bet when stargate SG-1 came out you were going crazy eh? I liked the movie but I haven't watched the series. I'm a big fan of mythology/fantasy based stories but not sci-fiction, that is why I like LOTR and Silmarillion but not Star Wars. Care to introduce? There's tons of Greek, Irish, Japanese, Chinese and American Indian mythology books but not that many on Egyptian mythologies, good ones I mean. It doesn't have to be a novel based on one mythology character but a storybook based from the creation/birth of the first 'god' to how others are born/created. XD . Most of the stuff I've read of them are from the Internet. Got off topic... Anyway besides from The Odyssey, another favourite bedtime storybook of mine is Brothers Grimm. Not the sweetened version where everything ends happily ever after but the more original version. It's not overly gory but some of the stories do have sad endings. Like the original Little Mermaid version. I got the book from a relative as a hand me down when I was in Std 5 and I loved that book. Also still have it with me though it's a little battered.
