Not sure if this has been posted but I've yet to come across a post ...

Apparently, you can now buy XBLA games right off Amazon using real $ instead of MS Points. So what happens is that they'll provide you with the code by which you can then enter from your dashboard.

Here's the link to Amazon

Seems like not all XBLA games are there yet, especially the new ones like 'Flock' .. but there's Peggle though ... guess they'll be adding over time.

Any idea whether we can buy downloadable content using $ and not MS points?

Cheers

I personally don't see the problem with MSP.
More convenient and safer than using your credit card IMO

well I for one don't quite like paying extra for the MSP's. Since the prepaid cards that we buy whether it comes from GH or a site like play-asia, they'll always charge slightly higher than the actual value (1600MSP == $20). Of course I guess that they do have to make some money too.

I hope they'll expand to DLC's too in the future.

There is the issue that you would have to use a US billing address. and US billing addresses mean you need a US Credit Card.

Who knows what would happen if you used the code on an Asian machine anyways?

Uhmmm...this is Amazon ... why would we need a US billing address? However, I agree that we're not sure yet if the codes are region locked.

I might give it a try just to see.

MS Points are usually region locked, games may not be, coz if you've bought the GTA IV Lost and Damned box copy, the code could be used with any account as long as the content available in that region.

Cool...that makes sense. But what is interesting is that I see the game EXIT available on Amazon. And if I head over to xbox.com and try to download the demo, I'll get a an error saying that it's not available in my region... hmm..
