QUOTE(Aria_Sacho @ Apr 12 2009, 01:53 AM) We seem to have the same taste. I totally ban myself from eating halal food. Not trying to sound racist or offensive to anyone, but i've always liked chinese food the most. Partly because i like food that is cooked with skill and using 'wok hei'. And no, chinese food without pork totally sucks. I mean, can u imagine eating dimsum or bakkutteh or hokkien mee which is halal? Try not to go for mamak as its unhealthy as mamak food are all either fried or spicy. And i kinda think the mamaks are kinda filthy. So far i rate all the dim sums that open till late such as Jalan Ipoh and Old Klang Road Yan Yan as just average. Sorry dude as far as i know the good dimsums usually don't operate till late. The Wantan Mee along Sungei Besi highway is quite good. Open till very late. For BKT there is a good one along Kuchai Lama (but its not as good as it used to be- still considered good now in a way i guess). But now i think it closes around 12-1am. |

I respect that but I just want to point out mine and I think many others. There are many foods that are still good with or without pork content. I am a cook myself and I have to sometimes prepare food without the original ingredients and make them 'halal'. In fact some are made even more better tasting with other ingredients. Just like Prawn Mee, I have to prepare them without pork and I substituted pork bones for the stock with crabs and they tasted many times better than those made with pork stock.Try not to go for mamak as its unhealthy as mamak food are all either fried or spicy. And i kinda think the mamaks are kinda filthy. So far i rate all the dim sums that open till late such as Jalan Ipoh and Old Klang Road Yan Yan as just average. Your comment ,"chinese food without pork totally sucks." is a really typical new village comment. Many, many types of food are nice even without pork. Chinese food has it merits and so does other types of cooking. I don't think you have ever tried original Malay cooking. I have the experience of tasting a palace chef's Malay ( a friend's mother) cooking and I can tell you, it is heavenly. Why banned yourself from so much luxuries? Open up your mindset and start enjoy the diversity of food. Everything is safe to eat until you start to overeat not only 'mamak shops' but even chinese food. Do you know the cholesterol content of 'kau yoke' or 'tong porr yoke'? Where do you get the idea that spicy food is unhealthy? In terms of spiciness or 'the level of hotness' as you mean here, we are way behind Mexican, Indians, Indonesians and sometimes even Korean but I guess you never tried them as you preferred chinese cooking. |

Original Kayu Nasi Kandar
At this restaurant, you MUST order their longest Roti Tisu. It is about 1 meter long!!! It can feed more than 2 people but I can finish it myself somehow. Hehe...It is a norm for me whenever I am in KL, I will make sure I spare a little of my busy schedule to grab a piece of Roti Tisu. A Close Shot Roti Tisu @RM6.00 Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - Very delicious and crispy roti tisu I ever had. However, the taste and quality are not consistent and vary when everytime I tried it. I hope they able to have the same chef to make this at all time to maintain the quality. OVERALL: Ambiance: 2/5 Service: 2/5 Food Serving Speed: Slow Recommended?: Yes! Complete review please click here: http://chillout-soulout-freakout.blogspot.com |

Any good place to recommend as yam cha place during night time in PJ/KL? I'm kinda bored with those below already. Wanted to start a thread on this but kinda lazy
1. Murni Discovery (SS2, Aman Suria, Taipan) - prefer Aman Suria one, don't need to wait for tables unlike SS2 one. 2. Williams (Mayang Jaya) - damn expensive and dirty before this, but now move already. 3. Kayu Nasi Kandar - again prefer Aman Suria. Friend went to SS2 one got cockroach inside the drink 4. Pelita - don't go often 5. Hainan Tea (SS2) 6. Station 1 7. Oldtown Kopitiam 8. Maybank Nasi Lemak (Paramount) - Nasi lemak gooding but don't like the new back alley feel 9. Asia Cafe - so many stalls but none really outstanding 10. Ming Tien - foreigners hawker stall 11. SS2 area 12. Jalan Alor 13. Kota Damansara area Any suggestion of good food and place to hang out with friends at night besides those I stated above. I'm from PJ, so preferably around here also. KL can also on the odd occasion |
