Hi everyone, I'm trying to connect a PC to an old CRT TV, through S-Video. Here's back panel of the CRT TV.

You can see the existing connection on AV1 is for Astro, and AV2 for DVD player. When I connect the S-Video port from the PC, I can't view Astro anymore but could only hear the audio. Is there a solution to this problem? Any cheap solutions like getting a converter/jacks/connectors?

ps. I tried to use a simple converter cable ( S-Video to RCA ) and it's a no-go, graphics card won't detect the signal.

Any workaround to this problem? icon_question.gif

S-Video doesn't carry sound.
As your S-Video and the RCA is AV1. You can only use either one not both.
A RCA switch could help. Still you will need to convert the S-Video to RCA. Got such a cable.

Yup sound will be connected to an old AV receiver through a 3.5mm jack to twin phono (RCA) cable.

I may have a solution, but not sure it will work. I put the DVD player and ASTRO on AV2 through a twin component (RCA) jack like the photo below.

That means they will be sharing that connection. Turn on the DVD player and ASTRO turned off (standby). If watch ASTRO, turn off DVD player. The question is will it work? I know AV1 will not work with S-Video and RCA connected, only PC to S-Video source will show.

As for the conversion from S-Video to RCA, i've tried it doesn't work because the graphics card can't detect the signal.

Do you know much those switch selector cost? Cheapest one?

Instead of that, why not you use the RCA switch to connect your DVD player and Astro to AV2. Don't know the price though but I think it is quite cheap. It is available at many places anywhere biggrin.gif

Are you using s-video? If so, I think Dell is using s-video 7 pin, not the normal 5-pin s-video.

Are you using the 4pin s-video cable? if your laptop is 7 pin out and tv 4 pin(or 7 pin of course) input, it should work. Have you updated to the latest driver? Get the latest driver from nvidia.com then you should be set.
