What's causing this rally? Better results from the US? Could it be because of Wells Fargo and Goldmann Sacs good results?
Can't decide whether to ride this baby bull or unload soon......

I think mainly due to feel good factor. No real fundamental improvement from what I see...

QUOTE(kmarc @ Apr 13 2009, 07:50 PM) Aiyoyoooooo..... market up again! Really happy but really sad too.... IT can't be a bull because DOW futures is having a tough time breaking the psychological 8000 mark with all the good news out? Expectations are priced in. With such a bullish sentiment all around, maybe its best to follow the contarian indicator and unload while waiting for the retracement to come. What's causing this rally? Better results from the US? QUOTE(chyaw @ Apr 14 2009, 10:52 AM) I think our market might rally further if the next few results are also good. Traders are waiting for the next few results e.g. GE, Intel, etc.....However, not too sure what will happen when our local companies release their quarterly results... will investor look past the bad results or exit the market.......... haizzz.... difficult difficult.... Anyway, I am considering to ride this baby bull until some bad news comes out, then only exit my positions..... What are you guys going to do? Yeah, I don't think it is the bull but probably a bear rally, although quite a surprising long one. Hence the dilemma of whether to take profit or ride it a bit longer.....This post has been edited by kmarc: Apr 14 2009, 10:57 AM |

Uusually at the end of a mini trend, there will be a sudden spike up (bull) or spike down (bear) caused by excessive greed (bull) or excessive (fear). In this case, the futures saw a spike up to 953, and i think due to short covering. However, i dont think anyone is looking to long at these prices right now (for CI stocks)However, not too sure what will happen when our local companies release their quarterly results... will investor look past the bad results or exit the market.......... haizzz.... difficult difficult.... My take is, the longer the upswing holds.. the bigger the correction will be when it eventually comes... hence I prefer small pockets of profit taking which the market can absorb well rather than a huge correction where everyone start sweating blood.
With that scenario firmly entrenched in my mind... I say TP now and sit out and wait. Stop that itchy finger to press BUY... no matter how lucrative it looks. Easier said than done.. I have done just that.. sold all my positions last Friday and Monday.. but took up positions again yestd.. think I will offload all with some pocket money and sit out and wait. |

Yeap, fundamentals don't change overnight. The shorts around the world were badly squeezed but doesn't mean KLCI is coming around.

QUOTE(kmarc @ Apr 14 2009, 10:50 AM) Aiyoyoooooo..... market up again! Really happy but really sad too.... When market sentiment is good, bad news in the eye of punters also is a good news. What's causing this rally? Better results from the US? Could it be because of Wells Fargo and Goldmann Sacs good results? Can't decide whether to ride this baby bull or unload soon...... Poor earning from xyz company, when sentiment good time, they will say, nah, this is rear view mirror already, we knew already, future earning will improve so stock should go up. Sentiment bad time, they will say, wah so bad, economy will shrink and deflation will kill of the economy. Better result time, Sentiment good time, This is the turning point, we have new bull come out, better buy buy buy otherwise miss out the big boat Sentiment poor time, Future is bleak, can't sustain. Actually for financial stock reporting better earning, there is no enough transparancy on how profit being derived from it, as now, they can get rid of mark to market policy which they can revalue or writeback on it, which until now, we don't know much. Stay a cool head and analyse in a more neutral way and getting in information with open mind, then you should able to see more clearly. |

The commodities rally might take a breather, so my suggestion is to tp plantation stocks first.

QUOTE(sampool @ Apr 14 2009, 11:16 AM) those people I know who have not got accounts one are mostly disinterested, because many of them, husbands' salary is stagnant /less or prefer to keep cash now as future is not so certain and bright yet. |
