Did some research and decided to buy 2 sticks of 2GB Kingston DDR3 1066MHz RAM and a WD 5400RPM 500GB HDD as a replacement. Should be no problem?

i would say just go ahead, i just did that a week ago and nothing is happened to me(touch wood) and they are working great.
but i havent update the firmware to 1.7 as lots of users make complaint on crashes and their machine slow after they have upgraded the firmware.
of course there are lucky guys anywhere.........just dont dare to take the risk.

hi all.
i'm a new macbook user, in fact i'm new to mac os x. i've check it's RAM, it said only about 200mb free? whoah that's too low, is it? (compared to windows system i've used before, always like at least 800mb free). Should i consider upgrade to 4 gig? if so, how much should that cost me? can i just buy ram from pc shops and upgrade it myself cuz i think that would be much cheaper.

guys, cant i get some opinions? im looking forward to upgrade my HDD to a 320GB one (maybe 500gb if the price not much difference)

should i go for the hitachi travelstar 5k320, 7k320, wd scorpio blue or scorpio black (bekt)? so far i read the hitachi and scorpioblue got positive results, so which of the two is better in ur opinion? for the 7k320 and the scorpioblack seems like mixed results particularly about the vibration issue. how bad is it for a 15" macbookpro unibody? i dont need the (supposedly) performance increase but it's always nice to have more speed ;p.

im also thinking about getting a 320gb (again, maybe 500gb..depends) wd passport essential and swapping its drive with my notebook's, is it advisable? which model hdd is in there and how big is the cache?

I'm sorry ppl, I don't really get what you guys meant and can't find my answers.

My question is simple, if i am to get a Macbook pro now, it comes with 2GB RAM (2GBx1) - later on after I get more money then I add in RAM, what is the recommended method to do that and will it still be under warranty ?

- Don't plan to get the apple extra care plan yet also - later on will get it.

I head MBP very picky on ram..so is better upgrade the ram at apple center. EPIcenter give the best price on upgrading ram add Rm299 for 4GB.

However, some user claim and prove is stable for using outside ram like kingstan & corsair...  as for me i still considering.

Just got out of epicentre. Their ram upgrade to 4GB is RM460+. It is the original apple RAM. RM299 is only for people who bought a macbook from them and upgrade on the spot. Now i freaking regret I didn't upgrade my ram when I bought it from the online Apple Store.. Haihzz.. Crucial also not cheap about RM350 including shipping. If I upgrade when I purchase the MBP only cost RM320. ZzZzzzzzzz. At least manage to get a nice sleeve le. Ptui!!

Guys, What do you think about putting an SSD into a MacBook 2.4Ghz Aluminum Model? I yearn for super fast boot up speed. So far, the best bet would be OCZ Agility 120GB or OCZ Summit 120GB. Both cost around RM1500+. Given that I'm just using 40GB out of a 500GB HDD I have. I think I can live with just 120GB.

LOL, one with 8MB cache and another with 64MB cache. Let's see how it goes.

Thinking of upgrading my hard disk for my mbp 13.. I think my hard disk is slowing the system down a bit especially when opening 10mb raw image files, or generate thumbnails of it, or basically do anything with raw files on aperture..
I understand that the wd 500gb 5200 is the favourite here but I dont particularly need that much space.. would prefer to have more speed vs space as I have over 1Tb on my desktop. What other brands/speed hdisk that you guys could recommend HD or SSD? Thanks
