i have a question about the RAM upgrade.
I got 2 macbook pro 13.3" but i only have budget to buy 2 x 2GB ram. If you put 1GB + 2GB for each, will this combination cause problem to degrade the performance? Thanks. |

thanks jinaun for the advise.
I will keep the original RAM since no value and better keep for future warranty. By the way, just upgraded 1 of our mbp to 4GB with (2x2GB Kingston KVR), no issue so far.... will try to leave it over night and see. |

QUOTE(summerkw @ Sep 28 2009, 02:09 PM) hi, i m new here. Wanna ask all the sifus for advise. Yours is this model?I have an old Macbook Pro 15" Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16Ghz. Everything original with 1GB RAM. I wanna increase the RAM. But according to my research, my MBP can only support up to 3GB. So my question is do i just get a 2GB to upgrade to 3GB. Will this affect the performance? According to "jinaun old post: it will work fine.. but your mbp may take some performance hit as the after the 1gb boundry of ur 2GB stick will onli work at single channel" Or should i get 2x 2GB RAM. But i will lose 1GB RAM. Appreciate your advise. cheers http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macb...6-15-specs.html |

QUOTE(summerkw @ Sep 28 2009, 02:45 PM) From the link i provided:QUOTE Standard RAM: 1.0 GB Maximum RAM: 3.0 GB* Details: 1.0 GB installed as a single module. One slot free. *Apple officially supports a maximum of 3 GB of RAM but third-parties have been able to upgrade the system to 4 GB of RAM using two 2 GB memory modules with some limitations. |

QUOTE(summerkw @ Sep 28 2009, 03:06 PM) so what do you recommend? My 2 cents opinion:buy 2 x 2GB RAM or buy 1 x 2GB RAM. how much did you get the RAM for? What brand and where? cheers based on my understanding, since your mbp unable to utilize full 4GB, just get 1 x 2GB to add on to your existing 1GB. (total of 3GB) I got my Kingston KVR 2 x 2GB DDR3 1066MHz, 2nd hand from one of the forumer in LYN, RM200 only |

QUOTE(summerkw @ Sep 28 2009, 03:15 PM) ok...thanks for the advise. Better match the RAM model that you are using now to prevent complication in future So it is better to add a KTA RAM to 3GB, ya. Do you know where can get good price for a KTA 2GB RAM? cheers For the place, I have compared the price list that i collected from Lowyat last 2 weeks, looks like StarTec is giving the best deal: QUOTE Below price list i got from StarTec in Lowyat Plaza last weekend (20 Sep 09) and so far their price is the lowest compare to other stores: DDR3 1066MHz SODIMM: Kingston KVR - RM145 Corsair - RM140 Kingmax - RM140 Mushkin - RM138 |

QUOTE(nimrod323 @ Sep 29 2009, 06:44 AM) his is only DDR2 667MHz, and he has to get 2+1 DDR2 667Modules because by default the MBP comes with 512MB+512MB DDr2 667MHz modules, theres only 2 slots inside. yes... his ram is DDR2 667MHz, i just gave him a guideline for the ram price. In term of the ram layout, this is late 2006 model and should be single so-dimm (1x1GB) instead of 2x512MB. See the Apple Spec here: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP24 QUOTE Memory 1GB (single SO-DIMM) 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300) |
