I have buy WD 500GB 8MB 5400RPM SATA HDD. After i install to my MBP the speed obviously slower then original HDD. Why?

I'm using WD Scorpio Blue 500 GB, SATA 3 Gb/s, 8 MB Cache, 5400 RPM. It is different with the original?

Will the new Western Digital 640GB will affected the delay problem? My friend are using the same 500GB hard drive with me but he is not affected the problem why? It is the Western Digital manufacture date are different and Western Digital limited the hard drive performance for the new build?
