Guys, can we upgrade MBP 13" mid 2012 from 8gb ram to 16gb? Any of you did? Can share if any issues? Send to service centre to upgrade or did on your own?
*
Yes you can, MBP13 2012 can supports up to 16Gb of RAM. Buy an Apple certified RAMs like the Kingston KTA and you will have no issue at all.

Hi,

Has anyone purchased from OWC? I'm thinking of purchasing RAM from them. Any problems with customs? Thanks.
*
No problem with the customs but why troubling yourself while you can buy it locally?

Thanks mate! Any idea how much it costs?
*
Kingston KTA (Apple certified RAM) always a good choice.

PC1600 or PC1333? Can we buy and send to apple service centre for installation?
*
1600Mhz for MBP13 mid-2012. DIY is much cheaper and you'll learn more.

yeah i kno. juz that i'm in JB and I don't know of any reputable or reliable shop where I can purchase from. Since I'm a novice at this I'm wary of adding the wrong ram and getting the warranty negated.
*
I lived in Penang and I'm also do not know any reputable or reliable shop here but you can refer the link that I shared earlier. I bought most of my computer parts online locally. You just have to find the right seller. smile.gif

Can anyone help recommend a reliable and relatively cheap place to go change the SSD for MBA Mid 2011 model? Thanks in advance.
*
MBA Mid 2011 uses a Blade PCIe type SSD which is not cheap. DIY always the best as you learn more about your Mac. smile.gif

Looking to upgrade my Mid 2010 13inch MBP to a 250gb SSD. Any brands recommended?
*
Any brand is ok but you will not get the SSD's optimum speed since your 2010 Mac only use SATA2 3Gbps interface. Most present SSD in the market uses SATA3 6Gbps interface. You can upgrade to SSD but you will only get half of it's speed.

Compare that to the 840?
*
Much better. The 840 had some firmware issue previously.

The thing about my MBP is that the fan keeps spinning in a very high speed and sometimes the computer is slow. Do you reckon that changing the SSD and blow out all the dust from the fan will help?
*
Your Macbook needs to be cleaning inside especially your fan. Macbook greatest enemy is DUST. Send your Macbook to your nearest service centre and have it clean or you can DIY yourself.

Since you cant get Windows out of your head and you like gaming so much I strongly suggest gaming laptop like illegear or Alienware. Or you can build yourself a powerful Hackintoch IMHO smile.gif

is it possible to upgrade the iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2014) memory ourself? Like the 27 inch, it has memory slot at the back screen. I tried to search, tutorial changing the memory mostly showing 2012-2013, is this the same method to do with Mid 2014 version?
*
Take note: All 21.5" iMac version (slim) has no access doors for RAM upgrading. You have to remove the LCD panel in order to access your RAM slots. Oh yeah, the 21.5" has only 2 RAM slots. tongue.gif
