Sorry, but that is nonsense. The only way you mac cannot boot or hand is if you didn't install the memory right or you put in wrong memory, or you are talking about PowerPC macs. In fact, I have used a lot of corsair rams before, and mushkin in a lot of macs before without any problems. Even then, the symptoms of a bad memory doesn't usually manifest themselves that clearly. Or maybe it's just placebo effect.

The ones that do give me problems are KVR rams, or any Kingston, to be exact. A lot of resellers are selling Mac tested ram, for me I would recommend Corsair Mac rams if you could get them, barring that, get the mushkin or normal corsair ram. In my experience, they have the least problems when paired with an intel mac.

Whatever you do, don't go to Authorized reseller like MacXXXXX la or MacXXXXX la. That is like going to sacrifice yourself at the altar of stupidity of paying a premium.

You can replace back the original DVD rom back to its original n replace back all original part before send in for warranty.

Replacing iMac ram is a nobrainer actually the memory bay door are just below ur iMac.

I never used iMacs before, since most of my power desktops are windows based. As far as I know, they use the same memory as notebook sized rams, and yes, the memory bay doors are just below your iMac, check the apple website for specific details on what ram to buy according to your iMac version.

Normally get my rams from either Viewnet, or C-Zone.

Whatever brand also no problem. Only think is that you need to enable trim manually. That's all. I'm using 3rd party SSD on my mbp unibody 2008.

Hi guys, I have a few questions regarding iMac 2011 ram since I'm planning to upgrade the existing 4GB to 12GB ( add another 2X4GB stick );

1. Any recommended brand?

2. Where can i find shop that sells 2X4GB kit around selangor / kl? Most of them just sell single 4GB stick.
