Hi, I'm thinking of upgrading my RAM because I want my macbook to work faster and want to upgrade the HDD because I download a lot of stuff especially music and movies, currently using 250gb hdd but I have a feeling that it's gonna finish space anytime soon. Anyways what's the maximum amount of RAM I can install into my notebook and how much space of HDD can I get? 4 gb RAM or 6 gb RAM and how much GB for HDD? 500 GB? 1TB? Thanks in advance.

Btw mine is the 13inch aluminium macbook 2.4ghz.

2.5" 500GB hard drive is available in the market widely nowadays.
Anyhow, just out of curiosity... is there any capacity limitation to be used for internal HDD on MacBook ?
does it support up to 1TB 2.5" HDD (if available) ?

I want to know the exact same thing, my hdd is 250gb and I'm thinking of upgrading it soon, no point upgrading to just 320gb cause that's not much difference, thank god for 500gb then, but wish there was 1gb hdd for laptops thou. wink.gif

nah there is not 1tb 9.5inch hdd yet, i think...
500GB ones are quite widely available. get the hitachi 5k500.b 500gb version, although its a 5400rpm disk, it supposedly gives comparable performance to a 7200rpm disk.

also, its very very quiet and does not produce much heat. no vibrations/noise that u can hear.

i got the 320gb version for my alubook and its amazing...

as far ram, u can go 4gb + 2gb. not officially stated by apple, but some claim its possible. btw, one 4gb stick is gonna cost u a bomb. i upgraded mine to 2X2gb, really improved my performance.

Oh I think I'm just gonna get another 2gb for the RAM (total to 4gb) and thinking of getting 500gb hdd for my macbook later on, but is it possible, because on the apple website, at the place where you wanna buy the laptop you can only seem to customize the hdd to 320gb only. I feel like not much difference if I get 320gb since I'm using 250gb, that's why I want 500 gb cause it's like double storage.

You can use a 500GB hard drive, people on other forums have done it. Apple probably does not offer a 500GB drive because their options are costly and in turn not many people would choose them.

You cant add another 2GB. The RAM in your laptop is 1X1GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM. You need to buy new 2X2GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM. RAM is so cheap nowadats.

Ok thanks for the info, btw should I do it myself or is it safer for me to ask the people at the shop to do it for me?
