My Mac Mini (year 2008) is unable to pass the booting sequence. Once power on, it will go to the Apple Logo and the clockwork then will shut down by itself. I have tried the 'C' and 'D' commands when powering up without any success. I have the original Mac OS X install disc but looks like the Mac Mini won't recognize it although the disc is perfectly fine (tested it on my Macbook). Any suggestions ? I need to be sure if it's the HDD is faulty.

I press the 'option' while staring up and it shows only the main harddisk as boot volume although i inserted the install disc

I was wondering if the ram could be the problem ?

i managed to do a restore using Time Machine after booting from usb. Looks like system corrupted. I'm still clueless on why the 'C', 'D' and 'Shift' option when power up does not detect the installation disc in the 1st place

my Macbook battery (almost 20 months) went completely flat at around 25%. At 25% it will shutdown, meaning the battery only operates from 25-100% only. will apple replace this since my APP still valid ?

The Battery and Charger test utility will only verify if the tested component are in good shape. They usually based on 2 things to honor a claim:
- how long since purchased. Battery within 12 months have a good chance. More than that, it's very hard. But can try.
- charge cycle vs remaining capacity. Anything over 300 cycle it will categorized as exhausted. Or over usage.
That's the guideline. But then again it depends on condition also. So speak wisely when you call AppleCare.

I called the AppleCare. looks like gotta send the battery to service centre. mine is around 18 months, 175 cycles. True enough AppleCare ask for those things. But they can't explain the sudden power off when reach 35%.
