Good day everyone, just want to share a situation I've encountered with 3G iPhone.

last night, the phone crashed. after re-starting it, it could not be booted and the message that appears on-screen says to connect to iTunes and restore. the IMEI and CCIDS number is missing and the sim is either not present or missing. tried re-starting with the same result. then tried changing sim card with no improvement. even resetting did not do any good.

went to maxis this morning and was told that it could be a hardware failure. was told that it would take 18 days to sort out. to cut a long story short, the tech that attends to me called up one of his friend and this is what they did:

reset the phone until the message to connect phone to itunes appear (this message appears after the apple logo so both home and sleep button must be pressed simultaneously). then connect the phone to the pc with itunes running. click on the restore button and itunes will download the software. once download complete, unplug the phone and repeat the reset until connect to itunes message appear again. connect to pc and itunes will proceed to install the software and phone functions again.

I do not know if anyone had encountered such situation or has this been posted here before. if something similar has been posted then i hope the admin will ignore and close this thread.

Almost did. Was contemplating it but luckily not yet. Was told by the maxis guy that jb will void the waranty. Can they tell if restore is performed prior to sending it to maxis?

Is it hard to reset or just one attempt of pressing home+power would get you to the itunes screen? I jailbreak-ed my iPhone so if I need to claim warranty, I better restore to the original firmware but my worry is, would there be a scenario whereby I couldn't even get the itunes screen which allows me to restore the firmware?

My Maxis set encountered a problem yesterday too. After playing with a racing car game, I went to the menu in the middle of the game by pressing the Home button to go back to the menu, it halted for awhile and even on Home screen, the sound of the game still can be heard for 2 seconds before it was ended.

Then after that, I can't launched any AppStore installed programs at all. Every single pgm I call up, goes back to Home screen. They crash!!!!Then I search the web, apparently this is a common problem for iPhone and iPod Touch after iTunes 7.7.1 is launched!

The fix was rather easy tho, install a new program and run it. Then all the other existing applictations are working again. But don't be to happy so soon, it happened again after I sync with iTunes. *haiyooo....*

Well, at least there's a stupid solution now. Anyone encountered this before?

I'm alright for now except for Skype crashing (maybe it's because of MobileLog which I've also installed). I don't play a lot of games on the phone so perhaps that's why I don't get the issue like you guys. It looks pretty scary to me if that's the case - Maxis iPhone crashing all the time, lol.

I don't think this is only happening to Maxis set but all other iPhones as a whole, prolly the version 2.xx above or like mentioned, 7,7.1 and above is buggy. Nontheless, I love it, it's a great piece of toy to play with.

i have experienced it before..same like u..usb logo appears on screen . imie and iccid is error..need to connect to itunes.. but when i connect to itunes it says the sim card cannot detected.. the solution is doing DFU mode..

Get the iPhone into DFU mode. When in this mode the iPhone screen is black.
1. Connect the iPhone and your Mac/PC
2. Shut down iTunes
3. Hold Power/Sleep until the red slider shows up, slide to shut the iPhone down. If this aint work hold Power/Sleep and Home until the iPhone shuts down.
3. Hold Start/Sleep and Home for 10 seconds
4. Let go of Start/Sleep but keep holding Home until...
5. ... iTunes starts up and finds an iPhone in restore/recovery mode. The iPhone screen is black.
